Player[edit]

You control the player, an Indian monk who is on a quest to rescue his girlfriend who has been kidnapped by a demon. This monk's order is heavily allied with frogs, and as a result, he is gifted with amazing jumping talents. The floors of the labyrinths and temples that he must explore are segmented into individual tiles. The player can hop precisely between neighboring tiles, or he can leap a distance of two tiles in a particular direction. The player has a life meter which starts with three units at the beginning of the game. By collecting potions that are hidden in certain stages, he can extend his meter by one unit for every potion, up to a maximum of six units. Every time he is hit by an enemy or an enemy's projectile, he loses one unit of health. If he loses all of his health, or if he jumps off of the tiles, he loses one life. If he loses all of his lives, the game is over, and you are presented with an opportunity to continue or save. A special item can be found which will reduce the damage he takes in half, effectively doubling his life.
