Area D-9
Area D-9

For its sixth mission, Metal Hawk will start out over the enormous rock in the top-right corner of the area; once the area's theme starts to be heard of from the Yamaha YM-2151 (which is identical to that for F-7), push the lever up to descend to 200 metres as the arrow appears in the centre of the screen and points you towards a series of blue paths (which are not shown in the image to the right) while the Japanese speech sample is heard from the C140. You will then come to two Type 3 Cannons, that are firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you from their positions in front of four gas tanks upon the first path (which you can drop one of your own missiles on, for 10 and 30 points apiece) - and once you have dropped a missile on each of them to kill or destroy them, the arrow will reappear and point you onto two medium-sized buildings and three aircraft hangars (which you can each drop a missile on, for 20 points apiece) on the second path while a Japanese speech sample is again heard from the C140. You'll then come up to four more Type 3 Cannons, that are firing more anti-aircraft missiles at you from their positions between the aircraft hangars; once you have dropped a missile on each of these, to kill them, two Red Heli will come flying towards you (which must be shot for 10 points apiece). Once you have fired a shot at both of them to kill them, the path will launch several more Red and Green Heli up into the air - and they will fly towards you, once they have reached your altitude. Once you have fired a shot at each of these to kill them, the arrow will again reappear in the centre of the screen, to point you towards four Type 2 Cannons that are firing more anti-aircraft missiles at you from their positions on both sides of four more medium-sized buildings (which you can drop a missile on, for 10 and 20 points apiece), along with a landing pad and a satellite dish (which you can also drop a missile on for 15 points apiece) on the third path, as a Japanese speech sample is once again heard from the C140 - and once you've dropped a missile on each of them to kill or destroy them, the arrow will once again reappear in the centre of the screen and point you towards four more Type 3 Cannons firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you, four final medium-sized buildings and four final gas tanks on the fourth path (which you each can drop a missile on for 10, 20, and 30 points apiece). Once you have scored 800 points, the "stage clear" theme will be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for the sixth time as Metal Hawk flies back up to its highest altitude of 400 metres, and off the top of the screen; you will then get 10 bonus points for every second you have remaining, and if you had not attained the military ranking of Marshal beforehand, you probably will have by now. Metal Hawk will now proceed onto Area J-9: Cross Fire.
