Area K-5
Area K-5

For its third mission, Metal Hawk will start out directly over that rock upon the bottom-left side of this area; once this area's theme (which is identical to that from H-3 and E-4) starts to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151, the familiar arrow will appear in the centre of the screen and point you towards an island on the left side, while a Japanese speech sample is heard from the C140, so push the lever up to descend to 200 metres. It has three Type 3 Cannons all firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you, from their positions on it (which you can drop missiles of your own upon for 10 points apiece), three gas tanks (which you can also drop a missile on, for 30 points apiece), a small building (which you can again drop a missile on, for 20 points) and a Red Heli flying towards you (which can be shot, for 10 more points) - and once you have fired a shot at or dropped a missile on each of them to kill or destroy them, the arrow will reappear in the centre of the screen, and point you towards the island on the right side of the area as a Japanese speech sample is heard from the C140. It has a landing pad, two medium-sized buildings, and a satellite dish upon it (which you can drop a missile on, for 15 points apiece), along with four more Type 3 Cannons, firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you from their positions on it and a second Red Heli flying towards you - and once you have fired a shot at or dropped a missile on each of them to kill or destroy them, the arrow will reappear in the centre of the screen and point you towards that giant aircraft carrier on the bottom-right side of the area as that Japanese speech sample is heard from the C14. It has a Type 1 Cannon, three Type 2 Cannons, an eighth Type 3 Cannon, two Type 6 Cannons and three Type 7 Cannons firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you from their positions on it (which you can each drop a missile of your own on for 10 points apiece); two Battleships will also be sailing through the water on either side of that carrier and firing anti-aircraft missiles up at you from their behind (which you can drop a missile of your own on, for 20 points apiece). The carrier will then launch several more Red and Green Heli into the air (which will fly towards you, once they reach your altitude), along with a few Type 1 Jets (which can also be shot for 10 points apiece); once you've fired a shot at each of these to kill them, start dropping missiles upon the various parts of the carrier itself to destroy them for 5-20 points apiece (its core, however, is worth 200 points). Once you have scored 550 points, the "stage clear" theme will be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 as Metal Hawk flies back up to its highest altitude of 400 metres and off the top of the screen - and you will then get 10 bonus points for every second you have remaining, and the highest military ranking you can have attained at this point is that of a Captain. Metal Hawk will now proceed to Area B-6: Fortress in the Sky, which gained its name from the giant aeroplane it features.
