The Village of Linger (リンガー)[edit]

The Elder will thank you for escorting him, and says that he will be in the Pub if you need him, leading both Jay and Cindy to realize that said destination was the only reason that he wanted to come here.

Noteable Villager Gossip:

  • Linger rests on the Gartram (ガルトラム) continent.
  • The village of Lackland is through the mountains to the southeast.
  • Amber Rose castle is a great deal farther to the east.
  • A woman inside the church hits on Jay, to the annoyance of Cindy.
  • Bethlehem isn't in town right now, but his granddaughter Leila is.
  • She has followed in her grandfather's footsteps and has blown up her home in the past from performing experiments.
  • If you visit Leila's home, her mother will mistake the party for wanting to purchase "The Tears of the Demon Tree Croune" - a catalyst for magic that is dangerous if misused. Regardless, she is completely sold out.

Head into the house at the very north end of town. Once inside, head up the stairs and you'll be treated to another FMV. It seems that Bethlehem was anger by the actions of the Dark Knights and has ventured alone to Amber Rose Castle. After introducing herself, Leila will now join your party.

Leave town, head south and then east through the gap in the mountains. Keep heading directly east until you see a large area of grass turn dark, almost like a path. A short jump above this path is the town of Lackland, your next destination (if you see a tower, you've gone too far).

The Village of Lackland (ラックランド)[edit]

Noteable Villager Gossip:

  • Lackland Tower has become occupied by the Imperial Army.
  • A treasure called the "Chi-Myaku Hammer" is rumored to be in Lackland Tower.
  • North of Lackland Tower is a dangerous place called Deathwhip Valley.
  • Poisonous geysers erupt in Deathwhip and are deadly to anyone who sticks around.
  • The village of Celesty, as well as Amber Rose Castle, are past Deathwhip Valley.
  • It is told that a country with a very advanced civilization existed long ago somewhere in the world.
  • Cindy can talk to the chickens and discover that they are worried the nearby cat is going to eat them. (Speaking to the cat confirms their suspicions).
  • A young boy inside of the Church desires to go on an adventurous journey, so he is praying to God to please make him a brave hero "of Level 99".

Make preparations, exit the village and head southeast to Lackland Tower.

Lackland Tower (ラックランドの塔)[edit]

Head straight up until you hit the way, and then take the right path to a chest: Megatonic. Walk back out and circle all the way around to the top of this area. Go down and then right once again for the second chest: Morning Dew Robe (朝露のローブ). Now head left and follow the path around to a staircaise – but before going up, grab the nearby chest on the left: Anti-Poison Grass (毒消し草).

On the second floor, head left and circle around clockwise until you reach a fork. First, take the northeast path up for a chest: Magical Berry (魔力のべリ一). Return to the fork and go left. Pass by the first passage heading up and instead take the leftmost one for a chest: Metal Bow (メタルの弓). Now head back to the passage you passed and take the stairs to the third floor.

Nothing to do here aside from taking the Heavenly Wing from the chest in center of the room and heading up the stairs to the fourth floor. Here you will meet Brutone. Just like others before him, he will recognize the hero as “Jay the Deserter”, prompting Jay to once again dispute it. Brutone then states his intention to execute him and attacks.

Boss Battle: Brutone (ブルトーネ)

After defeating the boss, you will obtain the Chi-Myaku Hammer (地脈のハンマー). Exit the tower now, either by using your freshly procured Heavenly Wing, or walking out. Return to Lackland Village if you need to save/heal up, then, follow the east mountain range up until you enter Deathwhip Valley.

Deathwhip Valley (デスウィップの谷)[edit]

Cross over the first bridge to the north to reach fork A. Take the upper left path for a chest: Healing Tonic. Keep following this path until you reach another chest: Silver Ring (シルバーリング). Head back to fork A and go right this time for fork B and a third chest: Hoof of the Heavenly Horse. Ignore the bridge leading south here and continue on to fork C. Ignore the bridge here and keep heading north for a chest: Sage's Sand. Continue north from here for the fifth chest: Tree Spirit Bow (木霊の弓). Head back to fork C and cross the bridge this time to fork D. From here, follow the north path and you will eventually spot an odd pink flower. Examine it for a boss fight.

Boss Battle: Poison Flame (ポイズンフレーム).

After crushing the boss, you'll reach fork E. Head south to grab the chest: Mist protection (ミストの守り) and then go back up and take the east path for the final chest: Anti-Poison Grass. Continue along the path and you'll be treated to a cutscene. If you retrieved the Chi-Myaku Hammer from Lackland Tower, Leila will use it to clear a safe route for you. Continue to the exit and once on the overworld, head south to the village of Celesty.
