Starting a new game or loading a game[edit]

The game starts with an intro cutscene you can skip by pressing the Start button button bringing you to the title screen. If you press Start button again you'll be taken to the file select screen. From here you can use A button to load a previously saved game, erase a file, or start a new game if you choose a Start slot. When you start a new game you give the slot a name, choose a gender, and an age.

Spoiler

If you collect 52 of the gold gems then the age you choose affects the very last part of the ending cutscene before the credits. Marina becomes a human and if your age is 15 or younger Marina will be a child, if your age is 16 or older Marina will be an adult

Movement[edit]

You use the Neutral dpad to move Marina. Double tapping in any direction in the air will cause Marina to dash. Double tapping Left dpad or Right dpad on the ground will also dash. If you double tap Down dpad while on the ground Marina will roll. Pressing Up c, Left c, Right c, Down c will do the same as double tapping the same direction on Neutral dpad although it has a slightly longer cooldown making Neutral dpad the faster option.

Grab, shake, throw[edit]

Many objects and characters can be grabbed with B button. If you are carrying around an object you can shake it by double tapping Down dpad or pressing Down c. If you are hanging onto an object anchored in midair you can shake it in any of the four directions with either Neutral dpad or Up c, Left c, Right c, Down c. Try shaking everything you can grab.

You can let go of anything you are holding onto by simply pressing B button, or you can throw it by holding a direction on Neutral dpad and pressing B button. If you are holding an object anchored in midair you will launch yourself from the object you were holding in the direction you were holding.

Pause menu[edit]

The pause menu can be viewed by pressing Start button during a stage. It will display your total play time, how many red gems you have, whether you have obtained the gold gem in the current stage, and allow you to either exit the pause menu by choosing Continue, or exit the stage by selecting Exit.

Gems[edit]

  • Blue: Restores a small amount of health.
  • Red: Adds to red gem count. Can be used to buy Continues.
  • Green: Restore a large amount of health.
  • Gold: Adds to gold gem count. Used to view more of the ending cutscene. There are 53 total in the game.

Continue or game over?[edit]

When you lose all of your health you will be shown a screen with your current red gem count, 4 options, and a timer that counts down from 30 seconds. Letting the timer run out or choosing I'm Done will display a short game over animation and then return you to the title screen.

  • Normal Continue: Spend 10 gems and continue with one full health bar.
  • Life Up Continue: Spend 30 gems and continue with two full health bars.
  • Max Power Continue: Spend 100 gems and continue with three full health bars.
