MotoGP 2 is a racing game that was initially released by Namco for the Sony PlayStation 2 in Japan on December 20, 2001, then for the United States on January 22, 2002, and finally for the European Union on February 15 of that same year; as the name suggests, it is a sequel to MotoGP, which was released in the previous year. It features the then-new season statistics along with real riders, teams and machines, five new tracks in addition to the five from the original MotoGP, and different weather conditions - and it also has a new "Legends Mode" in which players can race against ex-champions.

Story[edit]

This is taken from the backs of the US and EU versions' boxes, the fronts of which are shown below:

A NEW SEASON HAS BEGUN AND
THE ROCKETS ARE READY TO FLY.
The adrenaline rush of MotoGP returns
with all new racing excitement. All of
the world-class riders, demanding circuits,
fantastic machines, plus more
are ready to provide the
greatest thrills. The podium
beckons and the asphalt grinds
as 500cc's of thunder are set
to explode once again.
