Progression[edit]

Mugen Senshi Valis is played in a near-linear fashion. While you must complete Stage 1 before you play any other stage, you are actually free to pass between Stage 2 (Ruins), Stage 3 (Jungle), Stage 4 (Ice World), and Stage 5 (Underground) in any order. This Walkthrough indicates the most efficient order to clear them in, as many items which can be helpful for other stages should be collected before you attempt to enter them. The map below shows how the middle four stages are all interconnected. The Jungle serves as an intermediate stage between the Ruins and the Ice World. The Underground can be access from either of the other three stages.

Stage pathways[edit]

Each stage is composed of a collection of interconnected paths. Some of these paths are straight, while others may curve and bend. However, you are given no visual clues about the changes to your orientation. Therefore, while you may enter a path running to the east, you may very well exit that same path running north. Sometimes running to the left means running East, but on other occasions such as when you're on a loop, it may mean running West. This makes it extremely difficult to accurately track your own progress, and makes it absolutely essential that you locate and obtain the maps for each stage. By utilizing the map, you can keep better track of which paths you have already explored, which paths you have yet to explore, and which direction you are generally headed in.

Collecting items[edit]

The most important aspect of surviving in Mugen Senshi Valis is the collection of items which increase Yuko's defense, offense, and abilities. As mentioned before, it is extremely vital to collect the map as early as possible when you visit a new stage. The second item you should seek out as early as possible, if it is available, is an upgraded sword. After that, many other key items should be sought out at your leisure. It is also very useful to know the locations of health restoring items such as Drinks, Cats, and Herbs. One final but important note about collecting items; it is highly recommended that you revisit houses that you collect key items from, even immediately after leaving them, as they are likely to supply you with alternative items after they key item has been collected.
