A sector shootout is where you race on a track divided into sectors. You have points at the top of the screen. When those points are below 300 you missed it. It is just like a checkpoint and a tollbooth except you don't lose when you missed your sector. Each time you don't miss a sector you gain points. If you dominate all sectors you get an extra 500 points. You can't lose points though. The time you get there that is how much you gain. The person with the highest score wins.
