Nexuiz is a freeware first-person shooter by Alientrap Software distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Version 1.0 was released on May 31, 2005. Nexuiz uses DarkPlaces, a significantly modified Quake Engine. The logo is based on the Chinese character "力" (Li), meaning strength.
The current version, 2.5.2, was released on September 9, 2009. In March 2010 Alientrap Software announced that a version of the game would be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later in 2010.
