To select the Captain Gold route, proceed through the Mysterious Cave in either of the following ways:
- Skip the side room entirely.
- Wait for the lizardman to appear, defeat him, then enter the side room and choose any reaction to the mummy.
After reacting to the mummy, James will obtain a journal that gives additional backstory and clues.
The exact method of selecting the route largely does not matter. However, choosing to scorn the mummy unlocks an extra optional choice in a later confrontation.
Underground lake[edit | edit source]
After pressing the button in the spider passage and proceeding, James will find himself on the shore of an underground lake.
Proceed to the left of the screen to find a pirate ship. Approach the ship, and walk up to the ladder to climb up to the deck.
Pirate ship[edit | edit source]
From the deck of the pirate ship, enter the cabin to confront Captain Gold.
- 「ゴールドだな。なぜまだ生きている。」
- サーベルを取り、反撃を開始する。(to swordfight)
- 死んだふりをする。
- サーベルで切りつける。(to swordfight‡)
- まだ、死んだふりを続ける。(BAD END)
- (Must have scorned the mummy) 攻撃の意志は無いと言い、油断したスキにサーベルで攻撃する。(to swordfight‡)
- 「これは、エレノアか？」
- (same outcomes as the first option)
- 「で、出た〜！」
- 「箱のワナ？」
- (same outcomes as the first option)
- 「古代の遺産をこんな所に眠らせてはおけない。私が貰い受けよう。」 (to fight)
- 「助けて下さい。」
- 「わかりました。何でも言うことをききます。」 (BAD END)
- 「わかりました、とでも言うと思っているのか、死に損ないがっ！」 (to fight)
- 「箱のワナ？」
If you didn't select one of the bad endings, you will enter a fight against Captain Gold, with or without a sword. Outcomes marked with ‡ will have a significant impact later on.
After the fight, walk to the gold box on the desk to pick it up, causing the doors to open. Return to the deck of the ship.
At this point you can climb down the left-hand ladder, backtrack all the way to the cave entrance, and leave for a good ending. Alternatively, climb down the right-hand ladder to continue the route.
