Before this event, you will first be treated to another short cutscene featuring Bongo, which explains that you will have to press the second button when the red light in the top-right corner of the screen lights up and the Shinkansen comes into view from the right side of the screen, then alternate pressing the first and third buttons to build up your Numan's power meter, and push it back off the right side of the screen again; the text "HINT: Let a train come closer!" will then appear on the screen. For those of you who do not know, a "Shinkansen", written in Kanji as 新幹線 is a high-speed Japanese engine.
This event shall start with your Numan at a railway station in Japan (Masaemon's home country), showing off for the crowd for the fifth time; he (or she, in the case of Sharon) will then take up his (or her, in the case of Sharon) position, as the screen cuts to a shot of the Shinkansen's wheels. The screen will then cut back to the shot of your Numan (who's now glowing), as the green and yellow lights in the top-right corner of the screen light up - and once the red light has lit up and the Shinkansen has come into view from the right side of the screen, push down the second button to make your Numan put his (or her, in the case of Sharon) hands on the front of it, then alternate pressing the first and third buttons (to build up your Numan's power meter). He (or she in the case of Sharon) will now push the Shinkansen back off the right side of the screen as the counter in the top-right corner of it calculates its travelling distance (and changes its colour from red to white once it has passed 58m00); if you fail to push on the second button in time the Shinkansen will hit your Numan as the text "KA-POW!" appears on the screen and the attempt will be counted as a "FAULT". If its travelling distance was more than 58m00, your Numan will show off for the crowd for the sixth time as the Knuckle Heads-like compere's two "bunny girls" come up from the bottom of the screen and applaud him (or her in the case of Sharon) - and for a fifth time, you'll not only qualify for the next event but the text "CONGRATULATIONS! IT'S A NEW RECORD! ENGRAVE YOUR NAME ON HISTORY!" shall also appear on the screen. You will now have thirty seconds to enter your initials by pressing the first and third buttons to select the letters, then pressing the second one to confirm your choice; if there is only one player, the game will proceed onto the next event, Tower Topper in France, but if there are two, three or four players it will proceed onto a second, third or fourth Vs. Express event before doing so. The next event is also the first one of two which features a national landmark as part of the background: the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
