Numan Athletics start screen.png

Namco's 1993 sports arcade game, Numan Athletics is comprised of 8 events (each one taking place in a different country): Turbo Dash (United States), Interceptor (USSR), Missile Toss (Kenya), Numan Sniper (Antarctica), Vs. Express (Japan), Tower Topper (France), Nonstop Rock Chop (Australia) and Niagara Jumps (Zambia). Each event displays that text of "NEEDED" at the bottom of the screen - as this indicates the amount of time you have to finish the event in or the amount of points you'll have to score in order to continue to the next event. If you take longer than this time or cannot score this much points, your Numan will be "retired", and the game will continue without him (or her, in the case of Sharon); each event also displays the text "RECORD" at the bottom of the screen, which indicates the shortest time (or largest amount of points) for that event. If you take shorter than this time or score more than this amount of points the text "CONGRATULATIONS! IT'S A NEW WORLD RECORD! ENGRAVE YOUR NAME ON HISTORY!" appears upon the screen - and you will then have thirty seconds to enter your initials, by using the first and third buttons to select the letters, then pressing the second one to confirm your choice. The image shown above is of the game's start screen; once you have inserted your coin into the cabinet then pressed one of the game's Start Buttons, up to three other players will have 20 seconds to insert their coins and press another Start Button to join, before the game begins.
