Story[edit | edit source]
During a stop while traveling, Princess Peach finds a magical map and sends it to Mario, telling him to meet her at Rogueport. Upon his arrival, Mario meets a gang known as the X-Nauts that are attacking a Goomba girl named Goombella. He learns the X-Nauts are searching for relics known as the Crystal Stars, and the map Mario holds apparently leads to them. After taking the map down to the ruins of the old Rogueport and finding the Thousand-Year Door, Mario is led on a new journey to find the Crystal Stars and to find out what happened to Princess Peach.
