Patapon 3 is by far the largest rhythm based war game for the PSP, it may seem childish, but it's highly addictive and has a very deep strategy and gameplay.
Once you enter the game and reach the main menu, you have the following options:

| New Game | Start a New game, this is what you'll want to press right now. |
| Continue | Continue from a previously saved game |
| Install | Installs game data on the PSP for faster loading times. |
| Options | Change various options, mostly self-explanatory. |
| Terms | Review the game terms and agreements |
This guide assumes you have never played this or the previous games before, so select New Game and let's get started!

Once inside the game, you will be asked to select your starting uber-hero, your uber-hero is your... well... hero. You have 3 class options:

| Shield Class, has good defense and on a later stage, also offence | Spear Class, has a very good damage and evolves into high class damagers. | Bow Class, has a long range attack which is good against enemies but not buildings. Evolves into ranged attackers. |
After selecting your uber hero class, you will see a cutscene, and transferred to the prologue.
