Episode Two cover

The second episode of the game, it is the continuing story of your character's search for revenge on the giant robot that destroyed their home.

As with the first game in the series, the cases you unlock are not completed in the order they appear. In fact, several overlap, with items gained and locations unlocked partway through some cases that are required to complete a case started earlier in the game.

Prologue[edit]

Now, three Gods wait on the windowsill
Where one God's blood was lately spilled

While black tongues lap at the spreading pool
And build the strength they need to rule

The Quartet for the Dusk of Man

Aside from the player's avatar, there are a number of characters in New Arcadia who will play recurring roles within the story.

Party members[edit]

You[edit]

The player character has settled back into the ruins of their former home following the events of episode one, but rejoins Tycho and Gabe to hunt down the mechanical colossus that destroyed their house when the pair return with new information about the case.

This character's appearance is customizable before starting a game, and there are three outfits to collect that further change their appearance (as well as their stats).

Special moves[edit]

Press the Space button as the arrow passes over each target. Hitting a target perfectly will speed up the arrow. Missing a target will slow the arrow down. Causes "bleed".

  • A License To Till
  • Crustbreaker - More challenging to pull off because the needle moves faster, but causes more damage, and inflicts a more powerful "bleed" effect!
  • Hoedown - The most challenging of your special attacks, but causes massive damage and inflicts a devastating "bleed" effect if you hit each target perfectly!

John "Gabe" Gabriel[edit]

John Gabriel

Believing that "all famous people start out as orphans," Johnathan Gabriel left home at an early age. Learning to fight on the mean streets of New Arcadia, this path would ultimately take him to the top of the prizefighting circuit. Everything was going great - that is, until he fought the devil. Since then, he has punched over three thousand supernatural creatures. He has even punched several ghosts, which is very hard to do.

Special moves[edit]

Press the A and D buttons as they pass into the target zone to inflict more damage. Press both buttons at the same time to deliver the final blow.

  • Pleased-To-Meet-Ya
  • Vulgar Arc - This one is more difficult but does more damage and has a chance to stun.
  • Pugilize - Gabe's most powerful and most challenging attack to execute! A perfect performance will inflict a concussive stun effect on all enemies!

Tycho Brahe[edit]

Tycho Brahe

Upon graduating from New Arcadia's Old Academy with a Doctorate in Apocalyptics, Tycho Erasmus Brahe founded the Startling Developments Detective Agency. With its charter to "Tread, without fear, in the whispering dark," he and partner Johnathan Gabriel take on those cases too startling for their contemporaries. His recent encounter with the God of Silence Yog Sethis has made him anxious. Perhaps we should say more anxious.

Special moves[edit]

Shoot enemy targets as they appear by pressing the W, A, S and D buttons, but avoid friendly targets. Be quick, as targets don't stay up long. Hit all enemy targets before time runs out for maximum damage!

  • It's Cool, I Got It
  • The Fall Of Man - More challenging because there are more enemy targets and less reaction time.
  • Doubleshot - The most challenging of Tycho's special attacks also deals a revolting amount of damage! Only a true champion can get a perfect attack.

Supporting characters[edit]

Anne-Claire[edit]

A penetrating intellect and consummate mechanic, Anne-Claire Forthwith never met a theorem she didn't like.

  • Big Bang Theory - Anne-Claire lets fly a brutal aerial assault with her miniature zeppelin, Dirge.

Div[edit]

This bizarre creature has never been sober long enough to give a thorough accounting of its history.

  • Vile Purge - I'd get out of the way, if I were you.

Dr. Blood[edit]

His piercing gaze and timely appearance in the narrative mark him as a man to watch.

  • Talonite Bomb - A gizmo of his own design, this clockwork contraption harnesses unstable Talonite to devastating effect.

Mr. Tails[edit]

A viscous, liquid hate bubbles deep in his metal belly. Someone was quite cruel to this creature while it was still a prototype.

  • Steel Devil - Somewhere along the way, this devilish device acquired a taste for skulls.

Other characters[edit]

Dr. Jonathan Crazoir[edit]

  • Cloying Odor Sanitarium
  • Less crazy than the name might suggest.

Inventor of the "Harvest Buddy" automated plucking device, he arrived at the Cloying Odor Sanitarium under strange circumstances.

Pearl[edit]

  • Cloying Odor Sanitarium
  • A woman with predictable needs.

Pearl is now, and always will be, Pearl. She is the invincible archetype of the secretary, and has probably been confounding human beings since the dawn of history.

Kurtis Swindell[edit]

  • Riverbrook Park Estates
  • He's moving on up.

Kurtis Swindell is, among other things, a professional fucking liar.

Dr. Jillian Bromide[edit]

  • Symposium On The Future Of Man
  • Much, much smarter than you.

A scientist of considerable standing in her community, Dr Jillian Bromide is said to have invented the cliche.

Colonel Frank Candid[edit]

  • Riverbrook Park Estates
  • Can kill with a walnut shell.

Forthright, decisive, and occasionally brutal, men like this built the modern world.

Dr. Coriander Stripe[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • A scientist that's discovered... love.

On the eve of his nuptials, Dr Stripe is understandably nervous.

Dr. Ernald P. Whimple[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • Loves pee.

Dr. Ernald P. Whimple is the world's foremost Urinologist. He is also the world's only Urinologist. Still, it's something.

Dr. Lars Krangle[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • Anne-Claire's diminutive idol.

Author of My Tin Ear, The Soul Of A Roboid and innumerable others, Dr. Krangle is as famous as a scientist could be. Featured in Ars Mechanica and the teen science rag Whirligig, his genius has inspired a generation.

Dr. Uno[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • A brilliant scientist.

Dr. Uno doesn't fuck around, even on National Fuck Around Day.

Dr. Twee[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • Devoted enthnobotanist.

Dr. Twee hates Dr. Drei, as a result of an ill-defined "parakeet incident".

Dr. Drei[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • A brilliant German scientist.

Dr. Drei thinks that rays are totally awesome. Rays, as in narrow beams of light or other radiant energy. Not, like, the fish.

Dr. Quatromain[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • A brilliant scientist.

Once a pupil of Dr. Blood's, Dr. Quatromain has since distinguished himself in the field of robotic milking.

Waiter[edit]

  • Symposium on the Future of Man
  • He knows all and sees all.

So much rests in his capable hands.

Gate Attendant[edit]

  • World's Fair
  • Maybe not the best day ever.

He was the last in a long line of ticket-takers. There is a lesson here for all of us.

Dr. Mordo von Mundo[edit]

  • Location unknown
  • 1872 Spelling Bee Champion

Cast out from the world of polite science, Dr. Mordo von Mundo nursed his wounds until the profane Necrowombicon called out to him, whispering in terrible, occult schematics...
