The main enemies are the island's creatures. Because of the enhanced graphical capabilities of next generation consoles, some of the creatures appear different in color and shape on the Xbox 360 version. Many gamers have complained that, while the environments and textures are much improved on the 360, the characters look more plausable on standard console versions.

Giant Crab[edit]

Encountered on the beach and at reservoirs, these oversized crustaceans are quite formidable when encountered in large numbers. They are about 5 feet long, but get MUCH bigger.

Megapede[edit]

These giant centipedes are encountered throughout the game. There are two species encountered; the common Megapede, which is about 10 feet long and brown in color, and the much rarer purple Megapede. The purple Megapede is very small and is only encountered a few times in the game, but is the fiercest of the two, engaging the common Megapedes in combat.

Scorpede[edit]

The front of this neopede is rather like a Megapede, but the body then curls upwards into a sail-like tail. They bear a striking resemblance to modern scorpions, with the exception of their body size. They are about 3 feet long.

Udosaur[edit]

Encountered in the swamps of Skull Island, these amphibious reptile-like creatures attack anything that enters the water. They are about 4 feet long and are a camouflage green. They attack in large groups and look like a mutation between a crocodile and a tadpole.

Queen Terapusmordax[edit]

The vicious mother of Terapusmordax colonies who commands her minions to attack anyone disturbs her nest. She is larger than her offspring, has a 20 foot wingspan and sometimes lives amongst other Queens. She is grey in color.

  • Appearance and color varies between standard and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Terapusmordax[edit]

These large, hairless bats attack in swarms and are brown in color. They appear to be a cross between a bat and a rodent. They vary in size; some have 10 foot wingspans, while the smaller ones have 2-3 foot wingspans, but these are most likely newborns. They are found all over the island.

  • Appearance and color varies between standard and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Skin Birds[edit]

Very much like the Terapusmordax, these bats are slightly larger and more robust in appearance. They have a wingspan between 7-9 feet and are a reddish color. They are only seen at the summit of the mountain where Kong's lair is. They are scavengers, consuming even the most rancid rotting meat.

Dromeosaurs[edit]

These small carnivorous raptors are encountered in huge numbers in the lowlands, jungles and swamps of the island. They are extremely agile, climbing trees and jumping across ravines. They are about 5 feet long and are a purplish color. They kill and hunt in groups of 2-6 and can be killed with one throw of any spear, or with 1-2 shots of a pistol and one of any other weapon. A large amount of them are encountered when you find Ann Darrow (when she is on a giant log) and when you help Jimmy and go on the rafts. A small amount are encountered when you are heading to save Carl from the Mother Bat.

Venatosaurus[edit]

A species of 20 foot raptor found all over the island. Venatosaurs are found in the lowlands, jungles, waterways and mountains, and are themost common enemy in the game. They form groups of 2-6 animals before attacking. Very agile, they are green in color and require a considerable amount of ammo to kill.

  • Appearance and color varies between standard and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

V-rex[edit]

The largest predator on the island, the V-rex is the Tyrannosaur's evolutionary equivalant. It is invincible when playing as Jack; only Kong can kill a V-rex. They are encountered on their own and in pairs. They seem to favour the dense jungles rather than the swamps or mountains. They are about 50 feet long and are a camouflage green.

  • Appearance and color varies between standard and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Juvenile V-rex[edit]

Smaller versions of the adults, Juvenile V-rex are often found bullying Venatosaurs off a kill, and even fighting them for it. They can be killed by Jack, but it is best to have a very powerful firearm by your side when fighting one of these brutes. They are about 30 feet long and are brown in color. They are found in the mountains and lowlands.

  • Apperance and color varies between PS2 version and Xbox and Xbox 360 versions

Brontosaurs[edit]

These lumbering herbivores are seen stampeding through a canyon ravine with a large pack of Venatosaurs hunting them. They can trample Jack if he gets in their way, but they are mostly harmless, and often trample the raptors. The Venatosaurus pack eventually disperse when a large V-rex brings down a Bronto.

  • Appearance and color varies between standard and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Cave Serpent[edit]

Large amphibious serpents found in Kong's lair, where the player controls Kong and must slaughter the monsters. There are some baby serpents there as well, but Kong can kill them easily.
