Trial begins[edit]

Before the trial begins, Buckler reveals that Summers would often send her boyfriend videos of herself making Orla perform tricks. The TV phone is updated in the Court Record. The judge delivers the opening statement for Prosecutor Blackquill, and Blackquill informs him of the bloodstain on the skull rock. He calls Crab (and Sniper) to the witness stand.

Crab's Testimony: Cleaning the Orca Pool Room[edit]

Crab's Testimony
- Cleaning the Orca Pool Room -
  1. In the early hours of July 20th, Sasha was cleaning the orca pool room.
  2. Sasha and Jack Shipley, the owner, were scheduled to do the cleaning together.
  3. During cleaning, the pool water is drained.
  4. While the cleaning was going on, Marlon was taking care of the orca in the show pool.
  5. The pool water would never be drained unless the pool was being cleaned.

Cross-Examination: Cleaning the Orca Pool Room[edit]

Press the fifth statement. Crab says Orla herself is the proof that the pool was only drained while cleaning. A new statement will be added.

  • If there were no water in the pool, the orca could die.

Present the pool bottom photo on the new statement. It's certainly possible that Orla could have been in the pool after it was drained, and the water could have been drained at any time, not just during the cleaning. Phoenix presents the calendar, and asserts that the pool may have been drained during the meeting. But even though the calendar is Crab's, Blackquill demands more evidence to suspect him. The main difference between the pool during the cleaning and the meeting time is that the orca was there. If the murder occured at a time other than the cleaning, then Orla would be there, making her a witness.

Blackquill will ask for proof that Orla witnessed the murder. Choose to present evidence, then present the pool bottom photo. The luminol reactions on Orla means she came in contact with blood. Blackquill thinks the reactions come from Orla's blood, when she headbutted the skull rock. The skull rock is updated in the Court Record. However, that doesn't explain the blood on her tail!

Because Orla was a witness to the murder, someone must have tried to drown her. Present the "3 Zs" sleeping pill. Crab says the pill was stolen from his lab, and that he was the one who saved Orla from the sleeping pill. He claims that he took so long because the orca pool and his lab are so far apart, and he didn't know, but that contradicts the evidence. Present the TORPEDO data. Crab should have known about Orla's condition immediately, and since he didn't come to Orla's aid immediately, he must have wanted her dead. Crab retorts that the sensor didn't go off, and Blackquill points out that the sensors needed water to function.

The TORPEDO data indicates the water was only drained during the cleaning and the investigation, so only Buckler could be the killer. Blackquill also asserts that Buckler fed Orla the pill, since she fed him during yesterday's trial. But Buckler wasn't the only person who fed Orla, was she? Present Marlon Rimes's profile. Crab gives you his charm, and reveals it isn't Summers's. Rimes is called to the stand.

Rimes' Testimony: The Truth[edit]

Rimes

Rimes' Testimony
- The Truth -
  1. Sasha is lyin' to protect that orca.
  2. At 3:30 AM on the 20th, there was still water in the orca pool.
  3. The incident happened before the orca was moved to the show pool!
  4. Orla killed the captain by bashin' him 30 feet high and makin' him slam down on the water!
  5. So I thought the orca should pay the consequences.

Cross-Examination: The Truth[edit]

Present Shipley's data on the fourth statement. Shipley's body fell 65 feet, not 30. But by disproving Rimes's testimony, Buckler becomes the only suspect again... unless the murder didn't take place in the orca pool after all. When prompted, present the show pool, and when asked how the body moved from the show pool to the orca pool, present the crane in the top-left corner. Blackquill informs you that the crane can only be operated from the orca room, so Buckler must have moved the body. The judge will ask if you have an objection; select I have no objections. Instead, present the skull rock; the body must have been moved inside it. Rimes admits to moving the body inside the rock, and offers to testify again.

Rimes's Testimony: The Whole Truth[edit]

Rimes' Testimony
- The Whole Truth -
  1. In the show pool, the orca shot the captain up into the air!
  2. Then the captain came down and slammed into the water!
  3. I can still remember the spectators' screams clearly...
  4. All Sasha did was move the body! She was tryin' to protect the orca.
  5. When Ms. DePlume witnessed the orca findin' the body, I freaked.

Athena hears discord in Rimes's voice and offers to take charge.

Probe the audience on the third statement. There couldn't have been any spectators when he died, since no one witnessed his death. Rimes says he simply made a mistake, and the sadness subsides. Why did the spectators make him sad? Athena thinks Rimes was mixing one memory up with another. A whale killing a person with spectators watching... that sounds familiar. Present "The Killer Killer Whale". Rimes says he saw the whale kill someone before, but it was just a spectator. But why would that make him so sad? Present the charm. Rimes is rattled when he sees it, but won't admit it's his. Inside the charm is a photo of Rimes and Summers together; Rimes must be Summers's mystery boyfriend! He admits it, but Blackquill argues it's irrelevant to the case. Rimes still has anger to clear up, so maybe that'll prove the connection between that case and this one.

Probe Orla on either the first or fifth statement. Rimes asks for proof that he's angry at Orla; select I've got your proof! and Phoenix will present the charm. Rimes must be mad at Orla because she killed his girlfriend. This quiets his emotions down enough for a proper therapy session.

Pinpoint surprise on the fifth statement. If he "freaked", then why wasn't he surprised? Rimes wanted DePlume to see the body, so Orla would be put down. Rimes goes full pirate, and admits to trying to frame Orla. But if he hates her so much, then shouldn't he have tried to kill someone else, instead? Present Ora Shipley's profile. Phoenix suggests that Rimes attempted to kill Orla, and the attempted murder is connected to Shipley's death. Present the water on the picture. Rimes must have removed it to kill Orla, but Shipley ended up falling to his death in the empty show pool.

Rimes claims he was taking care of Orla at the time of the murder, but the TORPEDO data shows Orla hadn't been fed that morning. It's possible that she just wasn't hungry, but where did the fish disappear to? Choose Rifle. Rimes demands proof, so present the handmade sign, then present the pink footprints in the top-left corner. They look like penguin tracks, and Rifle's feet were pink, so she must have walked across the sign in the morning, while the paint was drying.

Rimes says he never saw Rifle at the show pool. He must have been somewhere else, where he couldn't see the penguin. Present the water again. If he was down in the drained pool, he couldn't have seen Rifle. He must have drained the pool to kill Orla! But Blackquill points out that Rimes would need to manipulate the orca for DePlume to discover it at the right time, which he doesn't know how to do. Things may seem hopeless, but there's still one person who hasn't given testimony.

Present Ora Shipley's profile. Orla is central to both cases, so she should testify. It's crazy, but the judge allows it, and calls a recess. This is your last chance... cross-examining Orla better turn up something good, or your ship is sunk!
