Defendant's Lobby[edit]

We start where we left off. After the trial and revelation that Maya is still being held hostage. Apollo asks who's the mastermind behind all this. Phoenix explains that Paul-Atishon was nothing but a puppet for the real man behind all of this, whose identity is still a mystery.

Dhurke interrupts to ask about Maya, asking if she's the bun-haired young lady he defended back in Khura'in. After asserting it, Dhurke reveals there's nothing to worry about, Maya is safe and sound. Dhurke seems to know who was Paul's benefactor and adds that he doesn't know that he's in the States with them. Apollo asks for an explanation, but before he can get one, Phoenix's cellphone rings (He still has the same ringtone since the first game of the series!) but the Caller ID is not revealed to them. He finally picks up.

A modified voice starts talking and thanking Phoenix for taking care of Paul and reveals to be the said "benefactor". Phoenix asks about Maya and the mystery voice reveals he heard today's trial about the Founder's Orb and seems to be shocked that the key of the Orb's secret is indeed a Spirit Medium, also revealing that this will not assert Maya's safety and they have another Spirit Medium within their reach.

Dhurke asks for the phone, which Phoenix protests before giving to him and reveals the character behind this all: Minister of Justice Inga Karkhuul Khura'in. The revelation comes as a shock to Phoenix and Apollo and the Minister seems to be shocked as well with the revelation that Dhurke was in the States all along. Dhurke calls out Inga's bluff and says that he literally can't lay a hand on Maya Fey, confusing Apollo.

Just when Dhurke thought he got the upper hand, Inga laughs and says that Maya isn't the only insurance he has and that he has someone dear to Dhurke at the palm of his hand and Dhurke seems to get the message quite clearly, much to the Minister's delight.

He proposes a meeting at Amara's Tomb tomorrow, 3 PM sharp and says that Dhurke better come alone, revealing if nothing goes wrong, the Orb is the only thing he will need to get Maya back. The call ends.

Dhurke decides to go back to Khura'in and decides there's no time to explain. Apollo expresses his worries, wondering if Dhurke will even make it on a plane since he's a wanted man. Someone interrupts... It's Edgeworth!

Miles reveals he's been taking care of the hostage situation and Apollo remembers Pearl saying that she did saw him around Kurain village yesterday! Phoenix had him look into a few things while he was on the plane coming back from Khura'in, which included Maya's situation. Edgeworth reveals Maya and Paul had no connection, which explained why she was still being hostage in Khura'in. He also reveals he took some liberties and found a plane ready to take off at any time they want and he will do his best to hide the fact that Dhurke is traveling with them. Edgeworth says they need to head for Khura'in now. Athena pops in and says that she will go too since they're bound to need her help

Trucy reveals her wish to travel with them, but Phoenix appoints her to hold down the fort while they're gone. Apollo hands to Trucy all the evidence that will not be necessary for the travel at hand (which is all, except his Attorney's Badge, the Founder's Orb and the Photo of Jove Justice)

They all aboard their plane to Khura'in

Tehm'pul Temple[edit]

The group arrives on Khura'in only the next day at 2:30 PM, leaving them with a window of only 30 minutes to get to Amara's Tomb which is located in the courtyard of Ga'ran palace. Miles reveals that he will contact the royal family and the police to inform of their arrival. They've got no time to waste, maybe later Apollo can reminisce his memories

Move to Royal Residence.

Royal Residence[edit]

It took them 15 minutes to get here! They're running out of time! Dhurke explains about Amara's tomb, saying that he is the one who they pinned the crime on.

Princess Rayfa interrupts the talk, revealing that they are prohibited from stepping into the Royal Residence without permission. Phoenix counters back, saying that Edgeworth should've already contacted the royal family to warn them about their presence and their reason for being here. He also asks if she saw Minister Inga, her father. Rayfa reveals she just saw him rushing to Amara's tomb alone.

Athena points out that they might have company. Royal guards introduce Queen Ga'ran in a rather loud way. She orders them to surround the tomb at once and they obey. Ga'ran reveals she knows about Maya's situation and apologizes in her husband's behalf, asking herself how he could abduct a guest in their country. Rayfa is shocked by this revelation of her father's actions.

Ga'ran explains the royal guards live to serve her and her only. It's composed by her most trusted subjects. They surrounded the tomb because the police will not come if they hear that this is Minister Inga's doing and she needs to take him into custody herself. Dhurke reveals that she can't storm the tomb because Maya's in there! Ga'ran seems shocked to see Dhurke and asks if he's here to turn himself in and tries to order her guards to seize him. Dhurke interrupts and explains he's there to do a hostage exchange, but if she imprisons him now, Maya is doomed.

Ga'ran asks why Inga would choose to do a hostage exchange with him. Dhurke explains they can talk about that later, but now he needs to go in there and save Maya. He says if nothing is resolved in 20 minutes, she can storm the place. He rushes to the tomb immediately.

Rayfa demands an explanation from Phoenix and he passes the account to Apollo. Princess Rayfa doesn't waste time coming up with nicknames, calling Apollo Horn Head.

Talk to Rayfa.

  • Hostage taking by Inga: Rayfa doesn't believe you. She affirms saying that her father has a gentle soul and could never commit such a crime, even if the proof of his crime is right in front of her: the tomb where Inga is using to hold Maya against her will.
  • Inga Karkhuul Khura'in: Rayfa says once more she saw her father rushing to the tomb from her veranda just 10 minutes ago and that she saw no one else. Apollo asks why would he rush to the tomb. Maybe he was worried he was going to be late? Phoenix doesn't discard the possibility Inga has a minion of two inside the tomb right now.

20 minutes pass and no one has come out of the tomb, Ga'ran commands her guards to storm the place at once and seize Inga and Dhurke.

When they finally open the place, the guards scream and call for the queen, all running back out, claiming that someone is dead. Apollo and Phoenix rush in and face whatever scared the guards. Apollo was fearing for Dhurke's life but when they finally enter the room...

Dhurke over Inga's body.png

Dhurke killed Minister Inga! But... he seems lost? Nevertheless, Ga'ran orders Dhurke to be chained and after a fight, he's finally seized, but not before throwing at Apollo something: The Founder's Orb! Dhurke is telling Apollo to keep it safe!

Maya is finally released, but she's so tired and weak she doesn't get to reunite with Phoenix properly. She passes out, but not before saying that Dhurke saved her. She is rushed to the hospital.

Inga is dead and Dhurke was arrested for his murder. The seemingly non-violent abduction had taken a turn for the worst.

Athena asks Apollo what happened. He explains that Dhurke seemingly killed Minister Inga. Athena brings the possibility of him doing it to save Maya's life. Rayfa overhears the conversation and is unable to believe her father is dead until she sees with her own eyes, but is prohibited from doing so as the guards have orders to not anyone enter the crime scene. Rayfa storms out of the place, saying that Dhurke is going to pay for what he did.

Phoenix suggests they regroup somewhere else.

Tehm'pul Temple (2)[edit]

Phoenix informs that Miles is talking with the police. He comes back shortly, saying that he has bad news: Dhurke has been officially charged with the murder of the Minister of Justice, but he did get permission for them to investigate the crime scene and that they'll be able to visit Dhurke shortly. Apollo thanks Edgeworth for his work. He also informs that Detective Ema Skye is in Khura'in and she'll be assisting with the investigation. Seems like Nahyuta is quite fond of Ema, despite what he says about her.

Apollo decides to visit Dhurke first and Phoenix will visit Maya at the hospital meanwhile. Athena says that she'll stay with Apollo to help him with his investigation while Mr. Edgeworth will go with Wright.

Move to the Detention Center.

Detention Center[edit]

Dhurke is here and he hasn't been interrogated yet. Athena says she can't imagine what they'll use for interrogation methods and Apollo adds that it will be nothing compared if they do find him guilty. Dhurke clarifies that if he's found guilty of the assassination of Queen Amara and the murder of Justice Minister Inga, he'll be executed publically. Apollo decides to ask what happened and he adds that he wants Dhurke to look at something.

Talk with Dhurke.

  • The incident: Dhurke doesn't know if he killed Inga. What? He explains that as soon as he entered the tomb, he took a look at the painting of the Holy Mother and got dizzy. The next thing he knew, he was standing over Inga's body with a bloody knife in his hand and covered in the victim's blood. This is very bad for the case if he can't explain what happened. Dhurke reveals this will be a tough case. He's been charged with two murders: Amara's and Inga's. Apollo reveals he'll be defending Dhurke on the trial, meaning he'll be dealing with the Defense Culpability Act. If Dhurke is found guilty, Apollo will be charged with the same sentence. Athena is curious about the assassination of 23 years ago, let's ask Dhurke about it.
  • 23 years ago: Dhurke explains that someone set Queen Amara's residence on fire and that she lost her life in the flames. Athena is shocked to hear that Dhurke wasn't just a lawyer 23 years ago, he was Queen Amara's husband! A verdict was never reached on the trial because Dhurke was accused of forging evidence. Apolo can't help but notice the similarities with another case. Dhurke ran from the law. He knew if he stuck around, he would be found guilty for sure and Amara's true killer would never face justice. But it's been 23 years and Dhurke never found the true killer. The arson meant that the crime was burned to ashes, including most of the evidence. Dhurke says that in his office he has a collection of files about Amara's murder and suggests Apollo find it.

Present Founder's Orb. Dhurke says that Apollo can't let the Orb fall back into Ga'ran's hands. He reveals that there's much more connected to this case. Ga'ran will do everything in her power to retrieve the relic and Apollo has to keep it safe, at least until tomorrow's trial.

Nahyuta interrupts them, claiming it's time for the questioning. It seems like he will be prosecuting his father, but he seems to have no problem with it. Dhurke asks his son about the plan of taking over Ga'ran from the inside. Nahyuta refuses to answer clearly and that the Nahyuta he knew doesn't exist anymore. Dhurke says that he will never resent him even if he prosecutes against him and that the Defiant Dragons eagerly away for his return, but no avail, it seems Nahyuta really changed, but Apollo feels like Nahyuta wants to say something, but can't. Dhurke is taken away for questioning.

Move to Amara's Tomb.

Amara's Tomb[edit]

Athena asks if the woman in the painting inside the tomb is Amara. Apollo explains that is the Holy Mother, founder of the Spirit Channeling technique found in Khura'in. Athena then recalls the woman found inside the orb.

You'll find Ema in there, shes investigating and will help with whatever she can.

Talk with Ema.

PW DD Autopsy Report.png
  • The incident: Inga died from blood loss. A single stab wound on his back was needed to make him bleed to death. The estimated time of death is 3 PM when Dhurke entered the tomb. Inga's Autopsy Report is added to the Court Record.

Apollo asks if there are other suspects besides Dhurke. Ema says there was no one else in the tomb beside him, Maya who was tied in a chair, and the Minister who is now dead. Ema says the guards searched the whole place and found no one hiding and while that happened, the perimeter was checked thoroughly so no one left the place. It seems like the crime scene was sealed off.

  • The victim: Our victim was the most important figure in Khura'in, only behind his wife, the Queen. Only his most loyal subjects knew about the abduction plan. Ema doesn't know what Inga wanted with the Orb but she is working on figuring out. But Apollo thinks that it may be about the great power the Founder will bestow on whoever brings her back. Maybe he wanted to be king?
  • Amara's tomb: The tomb was built on the exact spot where Amara's previous residence existed. Ema explained why the place was the perfect place for holding Maya Fey captive: It's close to his own residence and the tomb is only allowed to people of the royal family. Maya had been here for about 6 days and was taken to the hospital to receive IV.
Tomb Diagram.png

Time to investigate! Tomb Diagram added to Court Record.

Examine Founder portrait. They will talk on how weird it is to have a painting of a woman with no face looking over you after you’re dead. Examine the Sarcophagus and it will zoom in. Click on the curtains and they will open. Finally, Examine the Keyhole. Ema explains that the mummy of former Queen Amara is inside. It's locked, but no chance of the real killer being inside, many believe that disturbing with the sarcophagus will get a curse. Also, the inside is temperature-controlled. No one could survive inside of it.

Gemstone HD.png

Go back and Examine the Incense burner on the left and the one on the right. In the latter, you'll find something buried in the ashes. Examine the green object. Ema explains that it was part of the outfit of the Minister, a very expensive button to be more precise. It's coated in soot. Gemstone is added to the Court Record. Go back and examine statues (left and right). The ones on the left don't really have something special, but when examining the ones on the right, Apollo points that one of them is broken, but they can't see clearly from here. Turn to the left.

Pink Butterfly Pendant HD.png

Examine the Broken Statue. It will zoom in to give you a better view. Examine one of the Magatamas. Apollo and Athena will comment on how weird it is to have 2 magatamas fall from the same statue. Examine the Bullet at the top. It's from Inga's bullet and he probably missed it fighting with his attacker. Examine the Sparkling Object. It's a pink pendant with Inga's blood on it! It's didn't belong to anyone in the royal family. Also, no clean fingerprints were found. Pink Butterfly Pendant is added to the Court Record.

Mysterious Bloodstain.png

Zoom out and examine the Door: Apollo talks about the possibility of someone hiding behind the curtain, but once again, Ema brings him to reality saying that the guards did check behind the curtains. Examine the Chair and it will zoom in. Check the Chair once more. Then, examine the rope. Finally, swipe to the right and examine the bloodstain on the chair and floor. Ema moves the chair and announces it's time for some science with Luminol! Spray it a little to the left near the rope and it will reveal a trail of blood leading to the sarcophagus. Ema discovers that the blood doesn't belong to anyone on her list. The Mysterious Bloodstain is added to the court record.

Go back and examine the curtains of the sarcophagus. Ema will tell that there's no way the killer hid behind them, debunking once more Apollo's theory. Examine the paintings on the wall. It's a set of murals depicting Amara's life. First a baby, her birth. The second is Amara preaching for her people. The third is Amara's first encounter with Dhurke or rather a demonized version of him. Turn to the left.

Examine the paintings of this wall now. It's the continuation of Amara's life. The forth depicts her as she channels the spirit of a deceased person. The fifth is Amara being engulfed by the fire while "Dhurke" looks at it, her assassination. The last one is Demon Dhurke paying for his sins on the Twilight Realm. Not a very comforting end for a tale.

Examine the Table at the far end of the screen. Inga was drinking grape juice while waiting for Dhurke. Examine the bloodstains on the sarcophagus. It's quite the bloodstain. If the victim left this splatter on it, it would mean the blood got on the killer and Dhurke had blood splattered all over his clothes...

Examine the white outline and it will give you access to a closer look. Examine the knife: the murder weapon. Ema discovered fingerprints in it and they belong to the one and only Dhurke and another one, but it was too smudged to identify. Things aren't looking good for the case. Examine the phone. It belonged to the Minister and there were some recent calls between him and some members of his secret police. Now examine the gun. Detective Skye will tell you they found one of the four bullets the gun had fired and that the revolver had broken after it gave its last shot. Where are the other three bullets then? Finally, examine the white outline. Ema will give you the crime photo.

PW SoJ 5-2 Crime scene.png
Tomb Crime Photo.png

Apollo asks about the cuffs in his arms and Ema explains they're the Cuffs of Justice and it's a tradition for the Minister of Justice to wear those wherever they go. Tomb Crime Photo is added to the Court Record.

Ema asks the pair to leave the tomb saying that will be easier to deal with Nahyuta if the two attorneys aren't on the tomb when he arrives. Speaking of the devil, Nahyuta appears. Taking the opportunity, Apollo asks if he thinks Dhurke is guilty and why he's doing what he's doing but the prosecutor avoids the question by simply leaving the scene. Apollo decides to not let him escape this time.

Move to Royal Residence.

Royal Residence (2)[edit]

You catch Nahyuta as he tries to leave the gardens and he stops as Apollo tells him to and asks what he wants with him. When he reveals that the subject is about Dhurke, Nahyuta tries to leave again, but Apollo shouts, accusing the prosecutor of being afraid of whatever Apollo has to say. Nahyuta agrees to listen to him if he makes it quick.

Talk with Nahyuta.

  • Prosecuting Dhurke: Nahyuta reveals that Queen Ga'ran was the one who asked him to prosecute the case, making it difficult to deny a queen's wishes. Apollo argues that Queen Ga'ran shouldn't be asking a son to be against his father. Apollo asks if Nahyuta is really okay with doing this, which he replies that love and sentiment have no room in a court and that putting them above the law is foolish. Apollo can't find the arguments to deny his claims and decides to stick to the real questions.
  • Who Dhurke cares about: Apollo reveals that Inga had someone dear to Dhurke in the palm of his hand. He used them plus Maya as leverage to get the orb from him. Nahyuta reveals that those are news to him and that he has no idea who this person would be. Just then, Apollo feels his bracelet reacting at his words. Nahyuta chants and the bracelet only gets tighter and tighter. Nahyuta learned how to control the size of Apollo's bracelet. Looks like it's useless against him.

Nahyuta advises Apollo to not go through with the hopeless trial, telling him to grow up. Apollo brags that he won his last trial against Mr. Wright, earning a reaction from the other man. It doesn't last as Nahyuta says this trial will be different and that Apollo should abandon it before it's too late. When the attorney reveals he will continue defending, Nahyuta excuses himself, leaving behind Apollo as he wonders if this is the real Nahyuta now.

Is he really planning to send his own father and "brother" to their deaths?
