Controls[edit]

  • Joystick: Use the 8-way joystick to direct the Chemic around the screen; some of the Moleks that are adhered to it may prevent it from moving to the edges of the screen, which can be bad if the Atomic is closing in on it (and, in such a case, you might have no choice but to press the Reject Button).
  • Reject Button: Use this button to make the most recent Molek to have been incorrectly adhered to the Chemic float away; in the Challenging Stages this button will make the Chemic fire Yellow Moleks in four directions at the Atomic (which is an ability that it does not possess in the regular stages).
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.

Characters[edit]

Chemic (ケミック)[edit]

This small black atom with four red spikes is the protagonist of the game; it starts each area in the bottom-centre of the screen, and must adhere itself to the passing Moleks in order to duplicate the pattern shown above its starting position. It must avoid contact with the Atomic's "balls" (and any Alpha- and Beta-Rays that they may fire at it), and the maximum amount of Moleks that may be adhered to it is twenty-eight (indicated by that meter at the bottom of the screen) - and if this amount of Moleks have been adhered to it before it has duplicated the pattern shown in the centre of the screen, the two texts of "STAGE IS NOT CLEARED" and "TRY AGAIN" will appear at the top of the screen (however, if this should happen, it will not lose a life).

Moleks (モレックス)[edit]

Phozon YellowMolek.gif Phozon BlueMolek v2.gif Phozon PinkMolek.gif Phozon GreenMolek.gif The Chemic must adhere itself to these floating molecules (which come in four different colours: yellow, blue, pink, and green) in order to duplicate each of the patterns shown in the centre of the screen; as mentioned above, the maximum amount of them that can be adhered to it is twenty-eight (which is again indicated by that meter at the bottom of the screen), and if one of them should adhere itself to the Chemic incorrectly, you will have to press the Reject Button to make it float away. In the Challenging Stages, the Reject Button causes the Chemic to fire Yellow Moleks in four directions at the Atomic - however, if the Atomic touches the Chemic at any time during one, the stage will immediately be over. They are normally worth 30 points when adhered to the Chemic, but when two or more of the same colour are adhered to it in succession, their value is doubled up to a maximum of 4000.

Atomic (アトミック)[edit]

Phozon Atomic v2.gif

The sole antagonist of the game; it starts the game with eight "balls" (as you can see in the image of it to the left), but each time you successfully clear a world, the number of "balls" contained within it will change. It attacks by moving randomly around the screen, and shall cause the Chemic to explode if it touches it - and it also has the nasty habit of splitting up and reforming to cover more ground, as well as firing deadly Alpha- (Phozon AlphaRay v2.gif) and Beta-Rays (Phozon BetaRay v2.gif) at Moleks that have adhered themselves to the Chemic to make them float away from it of their own accord (but, if they touch the Chemic itself, it shall again explode). Each of its "balls" are worth 50 points when hit for the first time in a Challenging Stage (or after a Power Molek has adhered itself to the Chemic in a regular one) and 100 points when hit for the second time and destroyed; however, they are worth 50 points for each hit when split up.

Power Moleks (パワーモレックス)[edit]

These flashing molecules are slightly larger than the regular Moleks, and will first appear in the game's second world; when the Chemic adheres itself to one, it gains the power to attack the Atomic for a short period of time (this is indicated by a change in music and all other Moleks that are currently adhered to the Chemic beginning to rotate). However, the Atomic will, of course, regenerate any of its "balls" that you managed to destroy after a short period of time - and if you manage to destroy it completely, there will be a short delay before it reappears, which gives you more time to focus on the regular Moleks and duplicating the game's increasingly complex patterns, but by the time it does reappear, it will split up and reform more frequently. They are normally worth 200 points when adhered to the Chemic, but when additional ones are adhered to it before the effect wears off, the second one will be worth 500 points, while the third one will be worth 1000 points, the fourth one will be worth 1500 points and the fifth one will be worth 2000 points.
