Once in the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection screen you have just 2 options:

  • Picross Challenge
  • Community

Picross Challenge[edit]

In Picross Challenge you play against friends or randomly chosen opponents from around the world.

Firstly, you will connect to the internet and then you are given a choice of who to play. To play against someone who you have registered as a "friend", select Challenge a friend. To play someone chosen at random by the Nintendo servers, select Challenge anyone.

Challenge anyone[edit]

The game will search for an available opponent to play against - while doing this your current record will be displayed on the top screen.

Once an opponent has been found, a 3-count begins and then the game starts. It is a 2-puzzle head-to-head game - the first to complete the second puzzle is the winner. All results are recorded and added to your overall ranking record. If one player disconnects they automatically lose the match and the other player wins by default.

Challenge a friend[edit]

Matches against friends work in much the same way as the "Challenge anyone" matches. A simple 2-puzzle head-to-head match, where the first player to complete the second puzzle is the winner. Matches against friends are not recorded in your overall record.

Records[edit]

Each to you play against a random opponent in Challenge anyone mode the result is recorded. You overall record shows several stats:

  • Number of bouts (matches) played
  • Number of bouts won
  • Current number of wins in-a-row
  • Best number of wins in-a-row

You are also given a grade, for example "Beginner" or "Intermediate".

Community[edit]

In Community mode, you can share puzzles that you have made with other people or download new puzzles from Nintendo.

After connecting to the internet, you are given 2 options:

Classic puzzles[edit]

This mode allows you to download puzzles from past picross games. At present, only puzzles from Mario's Picross are available, but puzzles from other games may be available in the future. There are currently 2 packs of puzzles from this game that you can download.

Any puzzles downloaded from this section will be stored on your game card and you can access them by going to My Picross on the main menu screen.

Puzzle Exchange[edit]

In Puzzle Exchange you can upload puzzles that you have made in My Picross mode so that a friend can download them to their game; or you can choose to download puzzles that a friend has created and uploaded.
