Route 118 is quite a large route, featuring two areas of land separated by a small river. Encountered first is the western side, a small area just east of Mauville City with a few trainers located around the waterside. After beating the 5th Gym (Norman in Petalburg City) and acquiring HM03 Surf, the storyline is continued by Surfing across the water to the eastern side where Route 118 links to Route 119 and Route 123.
