This page will detail the controls for playing Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Overworld Activity[edit]

You can move through the overworld using either the Neutral cpad or the Neutral dpad on the Nintendo 3DS. Typically, the Neutral cpad is recommended because you can move in all sorts of directions more easily, while the Neutral dpad only has four directions.

Your toy Pokémon's moves can be used with the A button and B button buttons. The first move listed in your Pokémon's summary will be your A move and the second move will be the B move.

In order to open the menu to switch a Pokémon, press X button. If you find a Pokémon and want to know more information about it than just its moves, press Y button and more information will show up, such as Attack and Defense and a description of the Pokémon's special trait if it has one.

Scrolling through a menu utilizes the Neutral cpad or the Neutral dpad as well.

If you are in the overworld and wish to either pause or save and quit, press Start button and a menu will pop up in the bottom screen asking if you'd like to Resume, Quit, or Save and Quit.

When in the Pokémon list menu after pressing X button, you can press Select button and two options will pop up: Filter or Sort. The Filter function is a search function where you can search through all your collected toy Pokémon by Pokémon Type, Pokémon Name (species), Move Type, Move Name, Special Trait, Misc. (Move power (*'s), How Befriended). The Sort function lets you sort your Pokémon list to your convenience by Higher Power, Lower Power, Newer, Older, More in Number, Fewer in Number, Alphabetical, Pokédex Number.

Use B button to cancel things like the Sorting menu, the Filter Menu, the Pokémon menu, or other choices you wish to say no to.

The A button button lets you advance text, use your first move when in an area, select an option, confirm selection, and activate certain facilities in the towns. You can also talk to Pokémon NPCs around town with the A button button.

The R button button lets you favorite a Pokémon if you have the Pokémon menu up. When you favorite a Pokémon, it will always be top on your list regardless of the sorting method. If you favorite multiply Pokémon, then they will appear in the order that you are sorting the entire list. A convenient way to easily access a Pokémon you use often.
