A Junior Expedition Society Member Is Born![edit]

So as you can probably guess by the title of this section, yes, you do become a Society member, and that adds a ton of new features that you have to deal with. Nothing that serious though.

The chapter starts with a cutscene of an Ampharos arriving at Serene Village. He's standing on the tree with the hill saying that this is the place, and that he found his way there even if his sense of direction is... less than ideal. Huh. Should be interesting.

Waking Up[edit]

You wake up to Nuzleaf complimenting your scarf, saying it looks "mighty fine" on you. He says he wants one himself (not that he gets one). Exit the house, and head to the village square. A cutscene should play of Ampharos bumping into literally everything, before hitting the wall of the Cafe and sitting down. After a cutscene in which he introduces himself (and drops this really cool orb thing), go to the entrance to the school path to initiate another cutscene in which your partner realizes that they skipped class yesterday, and that they will definitely get in trouble if they go to school today. Well, there's only one way to handle this. Suck it up, and deal with it. I mean, what's the worst that Watchog can do?

Finding Ampharos[edit]

After a quick cutscene in which Espurr helps you get to school (without trouble) by pranking Watchog, class will begin. Save and Continue.

After school, head over to where Pancham is and watch how he reacts to your scarves. If you don't care, head to the plaza (for more cutscenes)! After a cutscene where your partner realizes that he's seen something like the orb at Kecleon's shop, head over there and ask him about it. After yet another cutscene in which Raticate tells you that they saw Ampharos near the gate, restock your seeds (if you forgot or didn't care), and head on over to the gate. After one more cutscene, head through the gate, to Poliwrath River!

Poliwrath River[edit]

Poliwrath River
Main Type Water, Electric
Amount of Floors 9
Monster Houses? No
Traps? Yes
Emeras? Yes

Poliwrath River, just like what Carracosta said, is a dumpster fire. There's a ton of Electric and Water types, so if you don't have a Grass type (or Pikachu), then you're gonna have a problem beating this dungeon. Lotad can be encountered here, so be prepared, because he is a Water/Grass type, so Electric will work on him, but Grass won't. Psychic types like Drowzee and Sproink can also be found here, so Riolu is not the prime choice for this dungeon, if you chose him at the beginning of the game. You can unlock Pelipper Island if you die in this dungeon, which lets you use 3 starters to rescue yourself when you die in a dungeon. Useful!

The final floor (Floor 9) is always the same (because, yet again, another mission that requires the floor to always be the same), and therefore, should be easy to find the exit again if you end up dying in the dungeon (and you can't use Pelipper Island).

BOSS: Poliwrath Brothers (Poliwhirl×3, Poliwag×1)[edit]

This boss is extremely easy if you have Blast Seeds and/or Pikachu. First thing you need to do when the battle starts is to use a Slumber Orb. If you don't have a Slumber Orb, skip this step. If you do have one, use it, and attack the middle one first. Use an alliance to weaken him, then finish him with a super effective attack (or Blast Seed). Then focus on the next one. Poliwag only has around 50 HP, so you don't have to kill it right away if you don't want to. The Poliwhirl Brothers have around 100+ HP (estimated), so again, should be easy if you have Pikachu.

After you beat them, a cutscene will play where Ampharos saves you from a Poliwrath (who pretended to be KOed), Save and Continue.

Becoming a Member of the Expedition Society[edit]

After a cutscene in which Ampharos gives you your badges (as "junior" members), you get a bigger bag, and cool gadgets that he teaches you how to use. Sweet! The first gadget acts as a map, as well as lets you register a team name. So basically, you get to make your own three-man Pokémon team. After Ampharos tells you to use the gadgets wisely, Save and Continue, then get ready to do your first mission!

Your First Mission[edit]

After you witness Ampharos causing mayhem with his (honestly terrible) sense of direction, he explains the Connection Orb. It's actually really simple. After you accept a mission to help Sylveon, your first mission begins (for real this time, lol).

Foreboding Forest (Revisit)[edit]

Foreboding Forest
Main Type Poison, Normal
Amount of Floors 8
Monster Houses? No
Traps? No
Emeras? Yes

This should be easy. There's only 6 floors for you to do, and the Pokémon you encountered last time are all the same, so therefore, this shouldn't be hard at all. The only difference is that you now find Guiding Wands slightly more often than last time.

When you reach Floor 6, Sylveon has a fairly high chance of spawning in the same room you spawn in, so walk on over to her, talk to her, and your first mission is complete!

When you get back to Serene Village, Ampharos will explain what happened when you saved her, then explain that you can now rescue/help more Pokémon using the Connection Orb. You may now Save and Continue.

Life as a Junior Expedition Society Member[edit]

The moment you leave school, a cutscene plays of Hawlucha "informing" you that his shop is open (more like yelling at you, to be honest), and to visit any time. He's really useful for remembering moves as well as making Smeargle OP, so keep that in mind. The next mission you should do (and the only one you can do) is Vulpix's mission, but first, head on over to Cafe Connection. On the minimap below, you can see if there's anyone in Cafe Connection who has a request for you. Normally, you just talk to them to have them join your team. Keep this in mind for later days. Accept Vulpix's request and head on over.

Cave of Training
Main Type Fighting, Electric, Dragon
Amount of Floors 6 (4 are completed here)
Monster Houses? No
Traps? Yes
Emeras? Yes

This dungeon is fairly easy. With your newest member, Sylveon, you can clap just about all the enemies here, since most of them are dragons. The Fighting types and Electric types can also be handled by her. I mean, you should still let your character and your partner level up but try not to die.

After you complete the dungeon, Vulpix will join your team! Vulpix will connect you to Axew, who will in turn connect you to Raichu and Salamence. Sweet!

The next morning, Nuzleaf will come in and say he is leaving yet again. This has no effect on the storyline, so just press and hold B button to skip it. After school, open your Connection Orb and select Axew's request. This mission will not only give you an overpowered Pokémon for your team, but allow you to connect to even more awesome Pokémon, so this mission is crucial.

Go to the Kecleon Shop and buy as many Tiny Reviver Seeds and Blast Seeds as possible (and use the Wonder Mail codes if needed for extra stuff), then head to Lush Forest. If Sylveon is available, add her to your party. If not, choose the most powerful Pokémon you have available. Beating Salamence should take a few tries (if you beat it first try, you have some serious skill), considering it's HP is around 300+ and its attacks do around 200 damage at times. With a couple of tries, you can beat him, no doubt.

After you do the mission and beat him, Axew and Salamence will join your team, therefore adding to your ever-growing force of dominance. Save and continue.
