Parfum Palace, a grand building fit for a king. Built by the ruler of Kalos 300 years ago after a massive war, it is now a museum of Kalos's rich cultural history. The owner of the palace presumably has the Poké Flute, which is what you're here for, but it doesn't hurt to explore the palace and all the sights it has to offer.

Outside the palace[edit]

As you enter the clearing from Route 6, you'll notice two other paths leading back from where you came. These paths take you to the wilder parts of Route 6, where the grass grows as tall as trainers. You can certainly explore these regions, but for now your main priority is getting the Poké Flute. Also in this clearing is a Photo Spot, where you can make Phil take a picture of you in front of the grant gate of the palace. As you walk along the path, talk to the first female tourist to get an Oran Berry! You should be quite familiar with what berries do right now, and the Oran Berry in particular automatically heals your Pokémon if you let them hold it. Go to the top left corner of this clearing to find an Ether.

Now it's time to enter Parfum Palace. Talk to the butler standing at the gate. He will charge you a rather hefty fee of Pokebuck.png1000 to gain entry, but he will still let you enter out of pity if you somehow lack the money. The entrance fee only needs to be paid once, and you can freely enter and exit the palace from here on out. Without further ado, walk up the stone path to the door of the Parfum Palace.

Palace interior[edit]

As soon as the enter, you'll find the owner preoccupied with his own problems. His beloved Furfrou has gone missing, and you must help find it if you're ever going to get the Poké Flute from him. There's no rush to get it, so you can just explore the palace for all it has to offer. The second door from the left of the first floor hallway leads to the king's bedroom. You can actually sleep in the bed to heal your Pokémon!

Go to the second floor and you will find a magnificent hallway of mirrors. Go into the first room from the left and you can get an Amulet Coin from the fireplace. This held item will double the prize money you get from winning trainer battles, definitely an item worth putting on your Pokémon. If you check the bookshelves, you can also find information about a Lucario that went through an odd transformation, possibly a clue about Mega Evolution?

Once you've explored the entire palace, go down to the first floor and go through the large middle door to enter the palace's enormous garden.

Palace garden[edit]

A bridge over a large pool leads to the palace's prized gardens, with intricate statues of legendary Pokémon and well-kept hedge mazes displaying intricate patterns. There are a lot of items hidden within these mazes. The lower left maze depicts a Chandelure, and near the center of the maze is HM01 Cut! You've gained the ability to use Cut's on-field effect since defeating Viola, but now you can finally teach the move to one of your Pokémon! Note that Cut's damage is rather poor compared to other moves and cannot be forgotten without special means, so you better select a moveslot to sacrifice for it wisely. At the exact opposite of the spot with the HM is a hidden X Sp. Atk. Continue exploring the hedge maze and you will find a Super Potion around the top left corner of the maze.

The hedge maze at the lower-right corner of the area resembles a Pyroar instead. It too has an item, an Antidote at the center of the maze. As you get to the large fountain at the center, be sure to check behind it for an awesome Rare Candy, an item that makes your Pokémon gain a level instantly. The top-right hedge maze depicts a Solrock, and the items within are hidden from view. Check the tree of what appears to represent the Solrock maze's left eye to get a Pretty Wing, an item that unfortunately does absolutely nothing. Now, walk along the perimeter of the garden and you should find a Revive along the right edge of the area. You can also get a Guard Spec. at the top left corner of the garden.

Now that you've found every item in the gardens, it's time to go to the final hedge maze, the one in the top-left corner of the courtyard. It turns out that the owner's Furfrou is actually hiding in this maze. It will always run away from you if you try to approach it, so you're going to need to use another way to catch it. Luckily, Shauna is here to help you catch the Furfrou. There are four spots in the maze that are wider than normal, where you can ask Shauna to stay. The Furfrou will never go down a path if Shauna is standing in it. To catch Furfrou, you need to get it into the dead end at the center of the maze. To accomplish this, first have Shauna stand at the entrance of the maze, then chase the Furfrou until it ends up at the top spot of the maze. Then, move Shauna to one of the two spots at the side of the northern path, then approach the Furfrou from the other side. This will force the Furfrou to run into the dead end, letting you finally catch it! The owner will come and thank you for doing the deed, and will invite you to a fireworks show at the balcony.

Fireworks and the flute[edit]

Go back into Parfum Palace and go up to the second floor. Go into the hallway of mirrors, then enter through the opening on one of the walls to reach the balcony. There, you will get to see a display of fireworks with Shauna. After the show is over, the owner will come to thank you again. He will also give you the Poké Flute, meaning you're finally able to wake up the napping Snorlax on Route 7. After the owner leaves, his butler will give you TM17 Protect. This move will block any opponent's move except for a very select few, but will fail from consecutive use. It has its uses in link battles, but you won't find it too useful during the main story.
