Controls[edit]

  • Q, A, I, and O: In the ZX and CPC versions, you must use these keys to drive PAT 1 up, down, left, and right; it is always moving forward, but you can direct it anywhere, and in the C64 and Amiga versions, you'll have to use a joystick instead. You can also press Space (or the button on the joystick) to make it fire a parcel out of its window, and P to pause the game - and for the Amiga version, you can also press F1 to switch between music (the "music" in question being third remix of the show's theme, which was only heard once in the previous game) and sound effects.

PAT 1[edit]

Postman Pat Clifton's van has been repaired since his last outing in 1989, and when he received a call from his old friend "Delivery Man Dan" in Pencaster (telling him that he had received a large number of parcels that needed to be delivered by the end of the week but he had unfortunately broken his leg), he agreed to help him out by doing all the deliveries for him; he must now drive through the streets of Pencaster, delivering the parcels before the 300- (ZX, CPC & C64) or 99- (Amiga) second time limit runs out, while avoiding the various hazards and obstacles (because if he does not, the "complaints" thermometer will rise from "calm" to "angry" to "crazy"), and all without running out of petrol (if he is running low on it, he will have to pull into a petrol station). Pencaster also appears to be in the United States because the van drives on the wrong side of the road, fire hydrants line its streets, and the police cars have sheriff's stars on their hoods; this gives the impression that as with the Amiga version of Hi-Tec Software's Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1991), this was not originally intended to be a Postman Pat game and the license was later put on it for marketing reasons (even though at the time the game was made, there were only fifteen episodes of the show)!
