Answer Buttons: Use the four answer buttons to answer 1, 2, 3, or 4 to each question; if your answer is correct, a red "O" shall appear around your chosen Kanji numeral as your remaining time is added to your score, but if it is incorrect, a blue "X" shall appear on it as your lord loses a life-onigiri.
1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin a 1 or 2 player game.
The protagonists of the game; Player 1 helps the red lord Heihachi (shown in the image to the left), while Player 2 helps the blue lord Nariyoshi (shown in the image to the right). If only one player is playing, a geisha will sit on the right side of the screen, with the text of "INSERT COIN" superimposed over her, which means another player can join in at any time - and both lords' objective is to answer enough multiple-choice Japanese questions correctly to proceed to the next scene of each round (the final scene of each round also has four categories to choose from).
