Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield: The main protagonists and playable characters of REmake.

Main Characters[edit]

Jill Valentine[edit]

Jill is one of the two playable members of the S.T.A.R.S. team, and widely considered the easier of the two to play as. Although both Jill and Chris visit the same areas of the Spencer Mansion, the characters they encounter and the items they collect differ at many key points. Although Jill takes more damage from enemy attacks than Chris does, she has eight spaces in her inventory to Chris's six, can obtain the powerful grenade launcher early in the game, and always has the lockpick equipped, bypassing the need to collect small keys. Jill's defensive weapon is the stun gun.

Chris Redfield[edit]

Chris is the second playable character, and arguably provides the player more of a challenge than Jill. As noted above, he and Jill cover the same locations and fight the same enemies, but their different traits provide a very different experience. Chris holds advantages in his ability to withstand many enemy attacks, and his lighter is always equipped, helping him avoid encounters with Crimson Head zombies. Chris's defensive weapon is a flash grenade.

Non-Playable Characters[edit]

Brad Vickers[edit]

Brad is S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team's helicopter pilot, who somewhat ironically is something of a coward. He flies Jill, Chris, and the rest of Alpha Team into the forest to investigate the disappearance of Bravo Team, but when zombie dogs attack the team he panics and flies off. He spends the rest of the night trying (and failing) to contact the survivors via radio, until Chris or Jill ignites the signal flare on the roof of the mansion at dawn. He arrives in time to assist the character by throwing down the rocket launcher subsequently used to defeat the Tyrant (in most endings).

Joseph Frost[edit]

Joseph is the S.T.A.R.S. unit's weapons and vehicles specialist, and a member of the Alpha Team. He was sent to investigate Bravo Team's disappearance along with the rest of Alpha Team, and was the first to discover the wreckage of Bravo Team's helicopter and the body of its pilot, Kevin. However, Joseph's role in the game is quickly cut short seconds later when he is mauled to death by zombie dogs.

Kenneth Sullivan[edit]

Kenneth is in charge of scouting and reconnaissance for Bravo Team, and the first victim found during the game by the player's character. Upon arriving in the mansion, the character is sent to investigate several gunshots coming from nearby--a quick investigation yields that the shots presumably came from Kenneth, who the player finds being devoured by a zombie. Searching Kenneth's body yields a video tape, which is initially useless but can later be viewed in the laboratory near the end of the game. The tape shows the gruesome final seconds of Kenneth's life as he is pursued down a hallway by the zombie before tripping and being set upon.

Forest Speyer[edit]

Forest is a weapons specialist and member of Bravo Team. After surviving along with the rest of Bravo Team long enough to reach Spencer Mansion, he is pecked to death by infected crows on the second-floor terrace, where he is soon after discovered by the player's character. When playing as Jill, the player can salvage Forest's grenade launcher from his corpse (Chris cannot). In either case, attempting to leave the terrace after discovering Forest's body prompts him to resurrect as a zombie and attack--for reasons unknown, he is unusually agile, his speed roughly on par with a Crimson Head.

Forest makes a special appearance in the unlockable mode "One Dangerous Zombie," in which he pursues the player's character around the mansion wearing a vest full of grenades. Making any attempt to attack Forest in this mode causes a massive explosion, ending the game.

Richard Aiken[edit]

Richard is the communications expert for S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. He is first found by the player in a small hallway on the second floor, very badly wounded from a fight with the giant snake, Yawn. The player must then proceed to fetch medicine for him, just as in the original Resident Evil--however, in this game, it is possible to revive Richard if the player is quick enough (taking too long causes Richard to die of his wounds). Reviving Richard with the medicine causes him to return to save the player's character's life at a later point; when playing as Jill, this occurs very soon after during Jill's own battle with Yawn, with Richard diving in front of Jill to prevent her from being devoured and being eaten himself. When playing as Chris, Richard will disappear until Chris finds him in the Aqua Ring, where he warns Chris of the Neptune and then he sacrifices himself to save Chris from Neptune. In either case, the player can collect Richard's powerful automatic shotgun following his demise.

Enrico Marini[edit]

Enrico is the captain of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team, and arguably one of the more resilient and clever members of the team. He is discovered regardless of other circumstances in the tunnels underneath the mansion courtyard, dying of serious wounds. Enrico is the first to reveal to the player that S.T.A.R.S. has a traitor in its midst, but he is shot dead by that very traitor before he can reveal his identity.
