Controls[edit]

  • Q, A, O, and P: In the ZX and CPC versions, you must use these keys by default to make Scooby jump, crouch, walk left, and walk right; Q and A must also be used to go up and down staircases, and you can also use Enter to make Scooby punch out at the enemies (however, for the C64 and Commodore Plus/4 versions, you will have to use a joystick instead). You can also press U to pause and resume the game in the ZX and CPC versions (F5 in the C64 version, and F1 in the Commodore Plus/4 version), and Y to abort it in the ZX and CPC versions - but, you should only do this in the ZX and CPC versions (as it is not possible in the C64 and Commodore Plus/4 ones) if you have no chance of winning.

Scoobert Doobert Doo[edit]

The protagonist of the game (who appears in a multitude of colours on the ZX and CPC, yellow on the C64 and white on the C16 Plus/4 due to technical limitations); when the Mystery Machine, which is the Scooby gang's van in the show, arrived at the ruined castle (which gives the game the subtitle "in the Castle Mystery") and the gang got out to explore it, its four human members (Velma, Freddy, Daphne and Shaggy), were seized, as a chorus of voices proclaimed how their experiments were almost complete and nothing could stop them. Scooby then decides to look for his friends (who are trapped in bottles), but various types of ghosts and demons shall be ganging up on him from all sides and emerging from doorways to prevent him from rescuing them - however, he can punch out at them to kill them, as well as collect Scooby Snax for extra lives. Once Scooby has rescued one of his friends, he shall proceed to the next floor of the castle; his full name was also only used by his parents, Momsy and Dada Doo (who also gave birth to his sister, Rooby-Doo), when they appeared in the show.
