Objectives[edit]

Visit the secret shops[edit]

There are two hidden shops in Area 2 that you should definitely seek out. You can find them by walking into particular trees. The first shop, labeled B on the map, has an invaluable item, the Cherry Lamps, which are vital to your success in Area 4. Be sure to buy some here. One set of three should suffice. Additionally, the second shop, labeled C on the map, has the Dragora Fang at a 50% price cut. You should definitely purchase one here.

Collect the Cherry Bombs[edit]

On your way to the underground prison, it's definitely worth taking the top to stop at the spot labeled 1 on the map. Here you can find a valuable item, the Cherry Bombs. When Cherry Bombs explode, they put anyone caught in the blast to sleep for a good period of time. This includes bosses. However, you only get 20 of them, and their blast is pretty small, so it's hard to snag a boss in the explosion. Use them carefully.

Fight the Tragwar[edit]

A giant tarantula blocks the entrance to the underground prison (labeled 2 on the map). What's more, it's holding the Pandora Key that you need in order to rescue the fairy inside. While you might be tempted to run up to it and try to stab it to death, it might be considerably safer to remain on the bottom of the screen and throw your Dragora Fang up at the spider. It's considerably slower, but also considerably safer. Be patient and the boss will fall, leaving the Pandora Key and a blue tear stone behind. Collect them both and enter the cave.

More hidden shops[edit]

There happen to be two hidden shops inside the underground prison. However, both sell identical goods, and the second one (labeled B) is very far out of your way, so stick to shop A. If you did not purchase Fruit from the very start of the game, you'll want to buy them now, as you'll be needing them in the upcoming area. Furthermore, you'll find a very good price for 100 pieces of bread. There will actually be considerably little to purchase later on in the game, and you can always build up the funds if you need them, so it's not a bad idea to stock up on as much bread as you can here. A thousand pieces of bread should be more than sufficient.

Rescue Pipi[edit]

The underground prison is rather maze like, so it may take you a few tries to get to Pipi's cell (labeled 3 on the map), but if you look at the map, it shouldn't be too hard. When you get there, you will encounter a large two headed lizard as the jail guard. There are two strategies to adopt. The faster one involves rushing in and using the Cherry Bombs to immobilize the boss and stab him while he is sleeping. However, you can still take quite a bit of damage trying to hit the boss with the blasts, not to mention go through a lot of precious Cherry Bombs. For those more patients, the best approach is to remain at the entrance and toss the Dragora Fang at the boss until it is defeated. Yes it's slow, but you won't get hurt if you don't move, and the boss will be defeated eventually. It drops two blue tear stones which should bring your Force up to four, and enable the Flying Sword power.

However, in order to utilize it, you'll need to enter the cell and rescue Pipi. As with Popo before, Pipi will reward you by immediately following you and giving you the ability to throw swords. Once you have thrown enough swords Pipi will retire to gain back energy and will rejoin you later on. Note: After you rescue Pipi and leave the room, you should return to the room to find a third item that the two headed lizard left behind, the Stalk of Feuru, which will restore all of your lost health if you are ever in a pinch. This valuable item is incredibly easy to miss, so be sure to collect it before you leave the prison.

Head to Area 3[edit]

You'll need to backtrack all the way out of the underground prison and back to the entrance where you fought the spider boss. Then head all the way south, then all the way east, and then all the way north (labeled 4 on the map) to find the arch that will take you to Area 3. Be sure to bring some fruit with you.
