Objectives[edit]

Learn the ropes[edit]

You begin the area in the bottom left corner of the map. All of your objectives are found high up along the cliff wall. In order to successfully scale the cliff, you will have to familiarize yourself with some of the dangers in this area. There are a number of small rocks that appear near the top of each screen and bounce down. If you are hit by one of these while standing on a high ledge, you will be knocked down to a lower ledge, and this is typically a one way trip that can derail your progress quite unexpectedly. If you are hit by a small rock while you are climbing a ladder, you will be pushed down by the rock. Your only defense from this is to step off on to the small ledges that can be found periodically to the side of the ladder.

Defeat Crawl[edit]

Your first goal is to climb the west side of the cliff and battle the boss known as Crawl (labeled 1 on the map.) To get there, you must climb the ladder you start the area on to the first ledge that you can walk to. Then walk right to the ladder in the next screen, and climb up to the first ledge that you can get off on the left. Cross back over to the left, and climb all the way up the next ladder to the very top. When you walk across the highest ledge, watch out for small rocks appearing near the top. Climb the first ladder that you come to and head left and you will encounter Crawl. Crawl is a rather simple boss, but it has an unusual ability; it can prevent you from summoning either of the fairies to help you. You will have to complete this battle solo, but it shouldn't be hard. Crawl will slowly advance towards you. Keep striking it in the head until you get hit with a flame. When you get hit, and are temporarily invincible, walk through Crawl and start attacking it's tail. Though not immediately, it will eventually turn around to face you and advance towards you again. Repeat this process until it is defeated. Collect the blue tear stone it leaves behind and prepare to move on.

Obtain the Dodo Eggshell[edit]

This next objective is not mandatory, and it's not even all that practical, but if you want to obtain every item in the game, you'll want to accomplish this obscure task. The Dodo Eggshell will protect you from taking damage when a small rock hits you (although it won't prevent you from getting pushed off a ledge down to a lower ledge.) In order to collect it, you must reach the area labeled 3 on the map, and clear the area of enemies. There are two ways to accomplish that. One way is to climb all the way up the ladder to the left of the 3 and take out the enemies so that only one enemy remains on the ledge. The other way is to simply reach the ledge and shoot the enemies from a distance using Pipi. Either way, you will need to reach the ledge, and the only way to accomplish that, is to climb to the very top of the cliff, and walk all the way across the highest ledge to the right to the cave that's labeled 2 on the map. When you walk through this cave, you will reappear on the ledge in question. If you already defeated the Vairas on the ladder before, all you must do is finish the last one on the ledge. If not, you will have to summon Pipi and time shots with your Crystal Sword so as to hit the other three Vairas on the ladder when they climb to your height. Eitherway, if you accomplish this difficult task without getting knocked down by a small rock, the Dodo Eggshell will appear on the right side of the ledge for you to collect.

Defeat Dragora[edit]

The final objective for this area, is to reach the top of the east side of the cliff to battle against Dragora. There are a couple of methods of reaching the ledge where Dragora resides, all of which involves intentionally getting knocked down from a high ledge to a lower ledge by a small stone. But the easiest method to reach the ledge is to return through the cave after collecting the Dodo Eggshell, and let the stone which drops closest to area 2 on the map knock you down to the ladder below. Then simply climb down to the first ledge that you reach. Once there, be careful not to get knocked down any further by other stones, or you'll have quite a trip to retrace. Prepare for this boss fight as you would any other. Summon the fairies, and let Popo aid you in recovering your health. When you are close to full, climb up the ladder on the right side to encounter Dragora.

The fight against Dragora will be considerably difficult, since you can only move left and right to avoid it. Dragora weaves up and down in a wave motion as it travels left or right, in an effort to get closer to you. Only the head is vulnerable to attack, and it breathes fire projectiles at you quite frequently. You will inevitably take quite a bit of damage in this fight, as there is no relative safe place. The best that you can do is stay ahead of the dragon, turning around to quickly strike its head as it crosses the ledge boundary, and turning around to attack from the other side as it flies above or below you. You may even feel the need to use your Feuru Stalk to recover your life in the beginning of battle. There will be no opportunity to refill it later on, so you won't have it available for the last fight if you choose to use it now. Once you defeat Dragora, it will snap out of the spell that it has been placed under, and return to it's normal friendly self. In return for your assistance, it will even fly you on to the next area.
