There are 20 levels in Shadow Warrior, plus two secret levels. The shareware episode consists of levels 1-4, and the registered episode starts at 5. Items are not carried over between the two episodes, only from level transitions.

Shadow Warrior may be set to You start the game choosing one of four skill levels. The choice will mostly affect the number of enemies present, as well as enemy boss health.
At the end of each level, you are shown statistics giving the time spent on the level, the number of enemies killed, and the number of secrets found.
