ATV Monster

This is another following mission, just like the third training mission. In this one, your boss is on an ATV, so he's much quicker and harder to stay with. For this mission you will need a vehicle with commensurate speed, as some of the slower cars won't even allow you beat the level. This mission also serves to introduce you to the new environment of Vietnam, with its rice paddies, rolling meadows, falling boulders and hidden mines. You have less leeway this time around to go your own route, as Luger drives through narrow entrances to multiple valleys, and you'll have a lot of trouble keeping up if you miss them and instead have to go over the steep surrounding mountains.

You start the mission in a small village, where the first obstacle presents itself. In addition to navigating through the village without hitting buildings, there is also an oncoming vehicle and people in the way. It's also possible to overtake Luger when he slows down to turn. From the village you'll have a nice straightaway to a small pass serving as the path to a wide valley. He'll attempt to run into a tree by swerving to avoid it at the last second, so be ready to pull left before the opposite side of the valley.

It's a nice, smooth ride from here until you cross a river. On the other side you'll hear an explosion, signaling a boulder trap coming down into the narrow pass you're headed through next. Both sets of boulders fall from the left side, so you'll have to judge whether to go left or right around them depending on how far along their paths they are. Follow Luger as the pass turns to the left, then empties out into a meadow on your way to a road. When the road turns to the right, he misses it and starts going haywire, eventually driving through some bamboo to meet with and cross the road farther ahead. It would be a good idea to slow down during this time, and just follow the road and turn right off of it just before the town to follow your boss through another pass.

As you take this new road through the pass, Luger will often collide with an approaching van on the other side. Don't be surprised when he comes to a complete stop. After recovering, he takes a wide path around the rice paddies, eventually reconnecting with the road and attempting to throw you off all the while. It's fairly simple to stay on his right in the paddies making a smaller circle than him and waiting until you get to another pass on your left. Luger leaves the road at this point, and takes the left option when the meadow forks around a hill. Through this fork you'll be turning right, then a left comes up between the next set of hills you come to. As you come right around the hill, you'll see your team's encampment – a bunch of vehicles painted red like yours.

Best time[edit]

Once again, there is no best time, as your time isn't tracked on this mission. Just like in the last following mission, you'll want to get to the end in front of your boss if you're still attempting to finish in the quickest possible manner. You can also use the distance between yourself and Luger to get him past certain obstacles. The falling boulders for instance, are triggered by your presence, not just any vehicle. So there is a sweet spot behind him where he will pass unmolested between the sets of falling boulders, which have the potential to increase your time if he's slowed by them. Running head on into the van is also manipulable, and like always, don't run into him yourself.
