D-5 Hondo (Hostile Territory)
Special Du Monde (Warzones)

This is the last training mission, where you will get your first experience driving at night using night-vision. The game uses infrared night-vision with green on black display, as opposed to thermal night-vision. On your first playthrough, this is the level where you unlock the D-5 Hondo or Special Du Monde after a successful completion. Your mission objective is simply to follow your boss, Luger, back to the hideout on the outskirts of the Georgia map. There are no enemies, and the only challenge is following Luger, who doesn't take a direct route. You have to stay within a certain distance from Luger's vehicle, or you won't pass the mission. There is no timer on this mission.

The easiest way to complete this level is to avoid following Luger. His maneuvering is designed to provide a challenge in following him, and he keeps on his prescribed track whether you're behind him or not. If you know the route, you can take a direct path and avoid all the switchbacks and swerving around obstacles. You can get too far ahead of Luger and lose the mission as well. Two trouble spots to avoid when not following your boss are right before taking the road into the mountain village and the beginning of the twisty road after going through the village. At each of these spots, stop your vehicle and wait for Luger to catch up to you. Any vehicle can complete this mission, and it may be most easily handled with the Kavostov, with which you can go straight from start to finish without ever stopping for Luger to catch up due to its slowness.

Best time[edit]

Getting a quick time isn't applicable to this level, as you get the same score no matter how you complete the mission. For personal satisfaction, however, the quickest time to completing the course is obtained by being within range of Luger and your base at the time he arrives. You can do this most easily by being in front of him when he gets to the base, assuring you of being in range when your proximity is checked. The only way to mess this up is either to hit Luger's vehicle during the mission, forcing him spend time getting back on his route, or being too far behind him, which leaves a gap between the time he arrives at the base and the time you get there.
