SonSon II is a linear game. You must begin on the first stage, and you must defeat the boss of each stage in order to advance to the next. There is technically no time limit, but if you take over 10 minutes in any stage, a Raijin will appear and attack you.

Shopping[edit]

Throughout the game, you will have the opportunity to buy items. To buy items, youmust spend Zenny. Zenny is obtained by collecting various fruit, which can be found by defeating enemies and breaking open pots. Be aware, however, that some pots contain enemies.

Certain items, such as hearts and scrolls, can be purchased multiple times during a visit to the shop. However, each time you purchase one, the price of the item will increase by some amount. Therefore, the prices of items indicated in the guide may not be the same as the prices you see, based upon how many times you purchased a particular item.

Hidden passages[edit]

In every stage, there are sections of wall which can be destroyed, but only if you currently possess the fist item. A new fist item enables you to break five walls. Even if you have hits left, if you obtain or purchase a new fist, you will only get five hits.

Early on in the game, you only strike walls to find valuable fruit that are hidden around a stage. Later on, however, they can be used to discover new areas. In particular, there's a trading game that happens on certain stages which ultimately leads to you improving your defense before you face the final boss. Knowing when and where to have a fist with all five hits available is crucial to doing well in the game.
