You might want to skip down to the next heading if you do not want facts about the game's storyline or plot revealed to you.

After Erazor tries to kill you, because he failed to kill "specifically you", his transformation is incomplete and thus defeat-able. Sonic absorbs some of the rings to become darkspine Sonic. If you pay attention to where the rings come out of from Erazor, you see that the rings were Rage, Hatred, and Sadness. That explains the dark super sonic-like look.

Things to note
  • Unlike normal super battles you are not invincible and can receive damage because darkspine only absorbed three rings, rather than then necessary seven for a full transformation.
  • Be sure to collect the random rings floating around in this oblivion stage to keep your ring count up. Your ring count will not deplete overtime like it does in the regular super form, but it gives you another hit you can endure.
  • In this fight you can charge you soul gauge which is something to utilize, but keep in mind that when you are charging you cannot move and could be hit.
Attacks

Erazor, or Alf Layla wa Layla as he goes by now, has a variety of attacks. The First are a large amount of energy shots that can be quite easily avoided with speed break. He will then try to slash you. To avoid being hit, pay attention to the laser-like lines that show where he is about to slash. Position yourself correctly and you can even charge while he is doing it. Charging up will come in handy for his next trick.

Next, Alf will charge and launch a giant ball of energy. Speed Break to counter it, but charge as you push it back, otherwise your meter will empty and you will take damage. After launching the ball back at him, it exposes his heart. Run up to the heart and use Speed Break or Darkspine Sonic's new mega homing attack (Speed Break is the better option because if you take too long to reach him, he will get back up and resume attack). Shake the wii remote Remote button to beat his heart like a bongo drum. When you complete this attack, the rings will explode out of him. Three of them will if come out if you did it perfectly, but usually only one or two come out.

After losing the three rings, he will summon black holes, or Whirlpools. These can be avoided rather easily the first time around, but beginners should use Time Break and everyone, no matter what skill level, should use time break at the second time he does it. Also, after acquiring the three rings, he will become much more aggressive with his slash attack. One variation is where he slashes almost every area on the screen, which proves rather difficult to avoid. After hitting him the same way and taking the last four rings, he will be defeated with a classic Sonic one liner to finish the scene.
