This page is structured exactly like any Yellow Pages directory: it lists all different shops divided by type.

The following gallery shows the services available in each of the six ports:

The pictures of humans are actual pictures of members of the Society for Creative Anachronism living near the game developers (who are members themselves).

Banks[edit]

Ossric the Moneylender (Waterdeep)

At a bank, you can deposit your money and later withdraw it. This can be useful in case you are afraid of losing money during travels (e.g. lose a battle, high taxes in Clive's Den).

You can also borrow money up to your current amount of gold pieces. In other words, the banks allow to temporarily double your money. It is generally a better strategy to earn money little by little, thus raising experience and reputation at the same time.

There is only one available bank:

  • Ossric the Moneylender

Governments[edit]

Whenever you dock in a port, you should go to the government building and pay your taxes. If you delay payment, you will be anyway forced to do it on your next visit, and your reputation could be affected, too.

The government buildings are the place where you can collect rewards after completing a job obtained in #Pubs.

You can seek an audience only if a plot event was triggered.

There is a local government building in each of the six ports:

  • Waterdeep: council of lords
  • Hisssta: hall of the poeple
  • Athanar: congress building
  • Umberguard: government hall
  • Mingabwe: council of elders
  • Clive's Den: Clive the Fearsome

Pubs[edit]

The pubs are the best place where to find work and raise money (extra money can be earned by getting a second job from the #Warehouses). The rewards for the contracts signed in pubs are collected in the #Governments buildings.

You can also listen for rumors, that are usually just that, but they give more depth to the game world.

If you lost crew members during a fight, you can recruit more in a pub. Whether buying one or more drinks affects the recruiting process, it is matter of debate and rumors.

There is a pub in each of the six ports:

  • Waterdeep: Rix ale house
  • Hisssta: Sslish's tavern
  • Athanar: Windfollower tavern
  • Umberguard: Bristling Burr pub
  • Mingabwe: Skyrider tavern
  • Clive's Den: The Blind Parrot

Shipyards[edit]

At a shipyard you can, first of all, buy and sell weapons to equip your ship, and also modify (enhance) the ship's hull.

You can sell your hull (you keep the ship weapons) and buy a new one, but the starting galleon is already the most valuable that can be purchased.

After a battle (or an unfortunate encounter), you can come to a shipyard and repair the hull and the weapons.

There is a shipyard in only three of the six ports:

  • Waterdeep: harbormaster
  • Hisssta: Jamm services (limited services)
  • Umberguard: Umberguard shipyard; Umberguard drydocks

Stores[edit]

In stores you can buy equipment for your captain and officeers. This is useful after you gained sufficient money as a Honest merchant and you have to get ready to fight hand-to-hand battles to complete the main quest.

There are one or more stores in each of the six ports:

  • Waterdeep: Aldur's quality weapons; Indoril's oddities
  • Hisssta: Athlass armory; Sith's general store
  • Athanar: Alsari's supply shop; the Cutting Edge
  • Umberguard: Singo's general store
  • Mingabwe: Hobarth's general store
  • Clive's Den: Bill's battered weapons; Olaf's armory; Aldo's supplies

Temples[edit]

You should visit a temple before a mission that requires to fight an enemy ship and get blessed. A blessing temporarily raises all crew members' attributes.

You should also visit a temple after a battle in order cure wounds and status ailments. The village healer in Mingabwe is less skilled than the others.

There is a temple in five of the six ports, except Clive's den:

  • Waterdeep: temple of Isis
  • Hisssta: temple of Semuanya
  • Athanar: shrine of Syranita
  • Umberguard: temple of Ptah
  • Mingabwe: the village healer (unable to cure petrification, level-loss, death)

Warehouses[edit]

At a warehouse, you can pick up cargo and drop it off to another port. You are usually rewarded 1000 GP for the job; this is less rewarding than the jobs obtained in #Pubs, but it covers port taxes (everywhere except for Clive's Den).

You can also buy and sell cargo, but selling price is half the purchase cost, therefore you will usually lose money in the process.

There is a warehouse in each of the six ports:

  • Waterdeep: Waterdeep shipping depot
  • Hisssta: government warehouse
  • Athanar: Donakkis' storage company
  • Umberguard: government warehouse
  • Mingabwe: the storehouse
  • Clive's Den: Orin's borrowed goods
