Conquest[edit]

This is the original Battlefront's game mode. The two teams are given an equal number of Command Posts at the beginning of the match (sometimes all Command Posts on the map are equally divided, and sometimes each team is given one Command Post with the rest starting as Neutral). The objective of the mode is to either drain the opponent's reinforcement points to zero by killing enemy units or capture all Command Posts. If the latter condition is satisfied, a fifteen-second timer will count down, during which the opponent has a chance to get a Command Post to at least Neutral level and continue the game. Customizable options include reinforcement points (can be adjusted up to 500% of the default setting, or 750 reinforcements per team). This mode is available on all of the game's ground-based maps.

Capture the Flag (1-Flag)[edit]

Each team is given two Command Posts, which are not capturable in any way; they simply serve as spawn and class change spots. There is one flag on the map, which can be obtained by walking over it, and is captured when the carrier reaches the glowing capture point. This spot glows red and is usually located near one of the opposing team's Command Posts. The flag is dropped when the carrier is killed, and can immediately be picked up by any other player. If no player picks the flag up for 15 seconds after it is dropped, the flag is "reset" (that is, returned to its original position). This mode is available on Death Star, Felucia, Kamino, Tantive IV, Jabba's Palace, Utapau, Yavin 4, Hoth, Endor, and all Space maps available on Instant Action (for example, Space Coruscant does not have this mode because it can only be played during the Campaign and Galactic Conquest).

Capture the Flag (2-Flag)[edit]

Like in the 1-Flag variation, each team is given two non-capturable Command Posts. The flag is picked up and dropped in the same way as 1-Flag; but in this mode each team has their own flag in their capture spot. To score in this mode, the carrier must obtain the opponent's flag and return to his/her team's base, and that team's own flag must be still there. Therefore, if both teams' flags have been taken, neither can score until one of them is returned by killing the carrier and guarding the flag for 15 seconds until it's reset. The mode is available on Coruscant, Dagobah, Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Mygeeto, Naboo, Polis Massa, Mos Eisley, and Geonosis. On both CtF modes, settings such as flag capture limits can be tweaked.

Space Capture the Flag[edit]

In this mode, flags are picked up when a ship flies through it. Only one Command Post is given per team, and the Marine classes for each faction are unavailable, as well as Troop Carrier class ships. The same rules as in 1-Flag CtF apply.

Hunt[edit]

This mode pits indigenous forces native to the map being played against one of the game's regular factions (with the exception of Mos Eisley). The objective is to reach a set number of points before the other team by killing enemies. Hunt mode is available on the following maps:

Map Indigenous Faction/Weapons Regular Faction
Endor Ewoks/Rocks, Spears Empire (Scout Troopers only)
Geonosis Geonosians/Sonic Blasters, ability to fly Republic (Clone Sharpshooters only)
Hoth Wampas/Claws Rebels
Kashyyyk Wookies/Bowcasters, fusion cutters, thermal detonators CIS (Magnaguards only)
Mos Eisley Jawas/Ionization Blasters, fusion cutters Tusken Raiders/Bolt Action Rifles, Tusken Cyclers
Naboo Gungans/Fusion cutters, Energy Balls CIS (Super Battle Droids only)
Rhen Var (Xbox Live patch only) Wampas/Claws Rebels

Assault[edit]

Assault is a space-only mode. Two teams try to reach the point cap before the other, which are attained by shooting down enemy starfighters and dealing significant damage to enemy capital ships, among others. In this mode, both the Pilot and Marine classes are available, and troop carrier ships can be used. This mode is available on all space maps and is the only possible space battle mode in Galactic Conquest.

Hero Assault[edit]

This mode has the same rules as the normal assault mode, except the map is ground-based and the only playable characters are heroes. The two factions in this mode are Heroes and Villains, and all the hero characters from the game are pitted together (there is no limit to how many of the same character can be on the map). On the PC, PS2 and PSP, the only map that supports this mode is Mos Eisley.

Xbox Live Patch[edit]

For the Xbox, there is an additional patch that adds the Hero Assault mode to the following regular maps: Coruscant, Kashyyyk, Mygeeto, and Naboo. Also, four maps from the original Battlefront--Rhen Var harbor, Rhen Var citadel, Bespin, and Yavin IV Arena--are added, each with Conquest, Capture the Flag, and Hero Assault enabled. Finally, the patch adds Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress to the list of playable characters.

XL (PC Only)[edit]

This mode is only available on three maps that are the largest and most "open". Similar to Assault, each team attempts to reach a score limit before the other, with Command Posts that cannot be captured; however, hundreds of units enter the battle in this mode and the score limit to win is higher. Due to console hardware limitations, XL is only available on the PC version of the game. This mode can be played on Geonosis, Hoth, and Kashyyyk.
