Map of the surface

Ebon Hawk[edit]

You are alone outside the Ebon Hawk, which is behind you, on the top left side of the map: you can climb on top of it, but you cannot enter. If you open the Party Selection screen and try to add to your party:

You are unable to change your party at this time.

You only have to find your way to the depths on the lower left side of the map, but finding the two buried Republic ships and killing every storm beast encountered along the way is highly recommended: if you don't want to explore the whole map, then following the outer wall to your left and turning left at each junction should accomplish this.

Across the surface you'll often see cracks of green light in the ground, which can afflict you with Poison, Average Damage, inflicting 4 damage every 3 seconds for 30 seconds unless a Fortitude save is made against DC 25: these are effectively Average Gas Mines that cannot be detected, disabled or recovered, although if you look carefully you can see them and try to avoid triggering them. Otherwise, if you don't have permanent Immunity: Poison (or Fortitude 24 or more) then you can use Breath Control to grant it for up to four minutes.

Buried Republic Ship[edit]

A path leads away from the Ebon Hawk to a junction to the right: the top and middle paths lead to a second junction to the right, while the bottom path leads (eventually) to the third junction. If you go up the top path, to your left, there's a corpse by its bottom wall, on your right.

At the second junction, you should see the entrance to a buried Republic ship above you, on your left. If you enter this ship and turn down to your right, you'll find a damaged console in the right wall, to your left, and another corpse at the bottom end.

Three storm beasts roam the bottom right path between the second and third junctions, where there's also a corpse by the left wall (to your right as you go down):

Storm beasts can use Sonic Howl, which can inflict 7-42 (24.5 average) sonic damage and reduce attributes by 6 for 30 seconds: a successful Will save reduces damage by half and negates the attribute penalties (although unlike Force Scream, the attribute damage can stack up so Immunity: Attribute Damage or Will 19 or more is advised if you don't debilitate them).

Another storm beast roams the jagged path below the first junction, leading to the bottom left of the third junction: there's also a corpse by the left wall of the top left part of this path, and another at the apex of the bottom right part.

Bridge[edit]

The path from the bottom right of the third junction (on your left as you go down) forks and then converges again in the bottom right corner of the map. Five storm beasts roam this area.

The path continues to the left along the bottom edge of the map, illuminated by shafts of light from above, until it reaches a bridge across a canyon. There's a corpse by the bottom wall, on your left, at the right end of this bridge.

As you cross the bridge, you can see the Ebon Hawk above you, to your right. As you reach the left end of the bridge, if Mira is in your party then Darth Sion and Kreia are discussing her:

KotORII Icon Dialog.png Kreia: Of course, apprentice. The huntress is with the exile. She has a special talent for... finding that which should remain lost. It also makes her difficult for me to sense... but not to a creature bred for such things.
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Darth Sion: Shall I send the assassins for her?
KotORII Icon Dialog.png Kreia: No, I have brought a beast to Malachor to deal with that one. If she survives, she will become stronger for it.

Meanwhile, Mira picks herself up from the floor of the canyon beneath the Ebon Hawk:

KotORII Icon Mira.png Mira: Well, here's a surprise; yet another slice of galactic paradise. Why we can't ever go to Alderaan or Ithor or some place without metal, jagged rocks, or packs of bloodthirsty beasts?

As she walks down out of the canyon, Hanharr watches her from behind...

Buried Republic Ship[edit]

Beyond the left end of the bridge, the path turns down and widens. If you follow the right wall, on your left, then you'll pass a corpse on the way down to a dead end. Continue to follow the bottom wall to your left, and you'll find a roaming storm beast and another corpse by the right wall (still to your left) outside another buried Republic ship, with a damaged console in its bottom wall.

Malachor Depths[edit]

Continue to follow the left wall up from the second buried Republic ship, where a storm beast roams. The path down to the depths is on the left side of this open area. The top right path leads up the now empty canyon beneath the Ebon Hawk, where Mira was. Another storm beast roams the bottom end of the top left path, and there's another just beyond its first junction. The bottom left path from this junction leads down to a corpse by the right wall, just before it turns left into a dead end. The top path to your right from this junction leads to a more open area, with corpses in its bottom left and top right ends.
