Telos: Citadel Station[edit | edit source]

Your first chance to race is on Telos: Citadel Station, in the Entertainment module's cantina. The Gaming Room is on the bottom right side of this cantina, where the Twi'lek race master stands behind a counter in the middle of its right wall:

Race Master: I knew it the second you walked in here - it's quite obvious you're a swoop racer. Probably a good one, too. What else could have brought you to Citadel Station but to challenge our track records?
5. I'll be going now. Race Master: Welcome back, my swoop racing friend. What will it be?
1. What's the course like?
Dialog
Race Master: Because the Citadel track was recently constructed, it is completely state-of-the-art, featuring the most recent advancements in swoop racing.
1. What are these new advancements?
Race Master: With the recent influx of repulsorlift technology into the swoop racing circuit, our track features vertical challenges, demanding an even higher level of skill and precision from our pilots. Improvements in the construction of bikes - well, should you invest in it - have enabled us to introduce new types of obstacles, making the races even more exciting for the fans. And for the pilots, of course.
Atton: Yeah. There's nothing swoop fans like more than seeing a good wreck.
Race Master: It's a dangerous sport, no doubt, but that's the price of glory, is it not?
4. What are the track records?
Race Master: The champion of the Citadel Station track is Ov Darum with a record time of 0:41:27. Race Master: You, Name, hold the best record for the Citadel Station track! Your record setting time is #:##:##.
Dialog
Race Master: The second best time on the track is 0:44:73 held by the great Requel Sorm. Race Master: The second best time on the track is held by you! Your time was #:##:##. Race Master: The second best time on the track is 0:41:27 held by Ov Darum.
Race Master: Nikylitis holds the third best time of 0:50:03. Race Master: You hold the third best time of #:##:##. Race Master: Requel Sorm holds the third best time of 0:44:73.
Race Master: Finally, in fourth place we have the young Ap'Sareb with a great time of 0:58:01. Race Master: Finally, in fourth place we have Nikylitis with a great time of 0:50:03.
Race Master: You hold the fourth best time with #:##:##. I think you have the potential to be grand swoop champion of this track, so keep trying to improve your time.

If you'd like to take a practice run then he can always be persuaded to let you run the course for free:

2. I'd like to take a practice run.
Race Master: The track's all yours. There's a 20 credit fee and you can run as many times as you want.
3. Never mind. Race Master: Suit yourself, the track's not going anywhere.
Persuade 1. [Persuade] How about you let me run the course for free? 2. Here's 20 credits.
Race Master: [Success] Well, I suppose so. You seem like a pretty good racer, and if you put up some good times, it'll attract more interest in the races. Credits Lost: 20
Race Master: Good racing.

If you want to race, then if it's your first you can persuade him to let you race for free. However, save game before persuading him and racing: you only need to beat the first place record once to become swoop champion and receive your prize, so if you do so after racing for free then it costs you nothing.

3. I want to race. Race Master: Very well. There's a 100 credit entry fee.
Persuade 1. [Persuade (7)] That's a little steep. There'll be more than enough wagering to cover that.
Race Master: [Success] You're probably right. Okay, I'll let you race for free, but you'd better come through for me.
1. Don't worry, I will. 2. You'll get your money's worth.
Race Master: [Failure] Running a swoop race isn't free, it's 100 credits or move on to the next planet on the circuit.
2. Here's 100 credits. Credits Lost: 100
Race Master: Everything's set to go. Good luck.

If you forfeit:

Race Master: Nasty spill you got into out there. Sorry, but you have to actually finish the race to qualify.

Otherwise, if you finish but didn't beat the first place record:

Race Master: A reasonable time, but not spectacular. You had a respectable race time of #:##:##, but you didn't beat the first place record.

Once you achieve the best time:

Race Master: Congratulations, you are the swoop champion of the Citadel Station with a time of #:##:##!
2. What's my prize? Race Master: Oh yes, of course, your prize! Your reward for achieving the best time is 500 credits.
Credits Received: 500
3. I would like to race again. Race Master: Your entry free is waived champion. Have fun on the track.

Nar Shaddaa[edit | edit source]

When you land on Nar Shaddaa's refugee landing pad, the Swoop Gallery is in the top left corner of its main hub. The Aqualish Modo So stands behind a desk there:

Modo So: Ah, another mark... er, I mean racer!
Dialog
1. Mark?
Modo So: Mark...et. Marketable face. You have a very unique face that will be easy to market to the fans.
4. Never mind.

Otherwise, or on returning:

Modo So: Welcome back, what can I do for you?
2. Can I race? 3. I want to race.
Modo So: You can, but be forewarned: the Heavy Lifters are operating today. You must jump to avoid them as they move cargo.
1. Anything else I need to know? 2. What else?
Modo So: The track we use is actually an old sewer system that runs beneath the city: under the refugee camp, around the methane bar, and through the docks. Do you know about the other swoop bikes and the fan blasts?
2. Other swoop bikes?
Modo So: We are not the only ones that use this track. The tricky part is they run the course in the opposite direction.
3. Fan blasts?
Modo So: The sewer vents are still active. Their turbines are strong enough to move a swoop bike in whichever direction the fans are facing.
1. Yes, I know about all the dangers of the track. Let's go. 1. Let's go.

You should really ask around before doing so, although it doesn't matter if you forfeit:

Modo So: That was a terrible accident! I am so sorry, but you must finish the race for your time to qualify.
1. Can I try again? Modo So: Very well. Are you ready?

However, if you finish:

Modo So: Welcome back -- I'm glad to see you survived. Your time was #:##:##. However C9-T9 posted a time of #:##:##. You raced well... but you should know that no human can beat this droid at swoop racing.
1. Can I try again? I think I can beat him. 2. I am not a normal human, gill-breather. I will show you what I can do.
Modo So: Very well. Are you ready?

C9-T9 cannot be beaten, so the droid must be sabotaged to remove Lupo's Advantage. If you still don't get the best time:

Modo So: Ahh... you lost with a time of #:##:##. Even with C9-T9 out of the picture, you still were not able to get the best time. Guron beat you with a time of #:##:##. Perhaps you should come back when your bike -- or driver -- is in better condition.

Once you do get the best time:

Modo So: Congratulations! You are the new swoop champion! Your time was #:##:##. The second place finisher was Nodobo with a time of #:##:##.
1. Thank you. Is there a prize? 2. What's my reward?
Modo So: Oh yes... I almost forgot. Here you go, 500 credits! This is your split of the winnings.
1. I appreciate it. Perhaps I will see you again. 3. That is all? I am entitled to more. Low (Affect Mind) 2. [Force Persuade] You will give me all of the winnings.
Modo So: [Success] I will give you all of the winnings.
Credits Received: 500 Credits Received: 2250 Dark Side Points Gained: -1
Modo So: There is no more to be had! The races have only just begun to draw attention once more. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, there is no more racing. The races have only just begun to draw attention and there is no money for winnings.

Onderon[edit | edit source]

In Iziz on Onderon, the Swoop Registration and Bar is in the bottom left quarter of the cantina's hub, where the Quarren Qimtiq stands just inside the doorway:

Qimtiq: Ah, come to watch the races have you? I am called Qimtiq, and I own this fine establishment. If there is anything I can do to make your visit here more pleasurable, please do not hesitate to call on me.
5. I'll be going now. Qimtiq: You are back again! For racing or something else?
1. I want to race.
Qimtiq: You can rent a swoop bike to race on my track. A full field of competitors is good for everyone. 100 credits must be paid for an official run on the track. Payable at the beginning of the race, not after.

Before you say you're ready to race, if asked Qimtiq can tell you what you get if you win (and about the rounds and the competition), go over the basics of swoop racing and tell you about the course:

2. What do I get if I win?
Qimtiq: We use the galactic three round system here. Each round pays different, of course. The first round pays 500 credits. The next 2000 credits, and the last round 5000 credits.
Dialog
1. What are the rounds?
Qimtiq: The first round is for those new to the circuit. A proving ground if you will. The second is for any who have proven themselves. The third round is the domain of the professionals, or very talented beginners. Only veterans of many years can reach that rank. There are some exceptions to that. There was someone during the Jedi Civil War who quickly made it to the third round in Manaan. But that was a fluke.
2. What's the competition like here?
Qimtiq: The field is narrower than it used to be. Some of the professional racers have left Iziz. The politics made them nervous. But our best racers are still here. Panar is good at the rookie rounds. M'sadaar is a very good off-world racer. But our best has to be Jonra Far, a local of Iziz. She is a superb racer and controversial. A very profitable combination for a racer.
1. How is Jonra controversial?
Qimtiq: She is very politically inclined. She says she races for General Vaklu. Many come here every night to boo or cheer at her. But both factions bring their thirst and many credits for betting.
3. Let's go back to my other questions. Qimtiq: Just ask, and I will answer.
3. Could you go over the basics of racing?
Qimtiq: Galactic standard swoop racing is based on timed trials, a swoop biker trying to make the best time, one at a time. Swoop racing is about speed and reflexes. There are five gears, and switching optimally is very important. Just pay attention to your indicators to know when to shift. Reflexes are important in dodging the many obstacles on a track. And also running over swoop boosters that are on the track. Boosters will increase your speed dramatically for a limited time.
4. Tell me about the course.
Qimtiq: Swoop racing wasn't quite legal until several years ago. The track goes through the underside of the city. Iziz is ancient and the city has been built upon itself over the years. Scores of obstacles are lurking down there... as well as wreckage leftover from the track's more... competitive, unsanctioned days.
1. I'm ready to race.
Qimtiq: I am excited to see how you perform in the races. The entry fee is 100 credits, there are no exceptions. Qimtiq: I admire your dedication. Crowds like a racer who pushes themselves and overcomes adversity. Qimtiq: There is the standard fee of 100 credits to compete in a race.
2. I don't want to pay that much.
Qimtiq: That is the swoop track standard fee. If I make an exception I could lose my license.

You have to pay the entry fee at least once:

1. Here's 100 credits. Credits Lost: 100
Qimtiq: Let me call up the standings now.
Round Racer Time Credits
Win Persuade (19)
Round One Panar 0:55:05 500 500
0:51:64 500 500
Round Two M'sadaar 0:47:11 2000 500
Round Three Jonra Far 0:43:04 5000 500
Total 8000 10000

If you forfeit, or don't beat the time:

Qimtiq: There is no way you can make it as a swoop racer if you can't even finish the race! You should give it another try. Qimtiq: This is the way of things. Swoop racing is demanding. You have done well for yourself, but your competition is fierce.

Even if you don't beat the time, finishing your first race means that whenever you say you're ready to race from now on, Qimtiq can be persuaded to waive the entry fee, and even give you a cut of the profits:

Persuade 1. [Persuade] With the money I've made you, I'm not going to pay the fee. I want a cut of the profits.
Qimtiq: [Success (19)] You are a shrewd one. I... will give you an extra 500 credits if you win. That is more than fair. Qimtiq: [Success (9)] I suppose I could waive the fee. But racers don't get a share of the profit. Qimtiq: [Failure] This is not how it's done. No matter how much money you've made me, I won't make an exception.

So for maximum credits you need to lose your first race, then persuade him to waive the fee and give you a cut of the profits before winning each of the four races (9900 in total, minus the first entry fee).

Once you do beat the time:

Qimtiq: You won with a time of #:##:##.

Round One[edit | edit source]

Qimtiq: To win the first round you must beat Panar's time of 0:55:01. If you manage to beat it, you can compete against the professionals. Attention fans. Joining the competition is a new biker who seeks to beat the time set by the formidable Panar!

After beating the time:

Qimtiq: Here are your credits as promised. I have an unusual situation. Panar has requested a grudge match to see who is the victor of the first round. I will still offer 500 credits for this match. If you win, you will be the undisputed first round champion. You could race against M'sadaar's time after that.
Credits Received: 500 Credits Received: 500

Once you're ready to race:

Qimtiq: Panar has pushed himself and his time is 0:51:64. You both have done far better than anticipated. This grudge match has drawn more attention than typical. The beast riders are very riled... I could understand if you don't want to post your best time. Attention patrons, now the off-worlder will race against Panar's new time. Who will be the winner this day?

After beating the time:

Qimtiq: Another victory - Panar is fuming. I would avoid him if I were you. Here are your credits as promised. Next race you are in the second round.
Credits Received: 500 Credits Received: 500

Round Two[edit | edit source]

Qimtiq: You are now ready for the second round. You face the formidable M'sadaar and his time of 0:47:11. He is a real swoop racer, do not be discouraged if you cannot beat his time at first. My honored patron, two off-worlders now are locked in a contest of speed. The new off-worlder competes agains M'sadaar now!

After beating the time:

Qimtiq: You are a wonder, human. M'sadaar is a professional racer and your time is better. You have won 2000 credits. You can face the champion - Jonra Far, if you are willing. Many will come to see that match!
Credits Received: 2000 Credits Received: 500
So you've beat my time, rookie. One race doesn't put you ahead of me.

Round Three[edit | edit source]

Qimtiq: You now face the champion. She just got off the track and beat even her old record. Jonra Far has a time of 0:43:04. Jonra Far faces competition this day. The off-worlder is seeking to take the crown! Everyone - to the swoop track!

After beating the time:

Qimtiq: You have won... Jonra Far's time is no more! For a rookie to do so well is incredible! Your reflexes must be almost Jedi-like! Here are your credits, Swoop Champion. You are always welcome here!
Credits Received: 5000 Credits Received: 500
Qimtiq: There are no new times for you to beat, Swoop Champion! And I doubt that anyone will top your time for months to come. Can I help you in some other matter?

If you speak to M'sadaar again in the Swoop Registration and Bar, among others:

I don't know how you're cheating, but if I ever find out you're going to face me. No no-name rookie places times like those.
Jonra Far: You have defeated me, Name. Your time is a new track record. I hope you use your fame to support the Struggle...
Vix: You are greatest swoop racer! You swoop very fast!
1. I suppose you want my autoprint now.
Vix: No, Vix just watches races. Commits to memory. One day Vix swoop, too!
2. I'll be going.
