Guy first appeared in the Final Fight series. He is the 39th Bushin ninja master, and wears a reddish-orange ninja gi with red sneakers. Guy is of Japanese descent. He is taught that the way of a Bushinryu of Ninjutsu decrees that one must fight against evil. Not much is known about Guy's past, other than he was trained by a Bushin-ryu master.
In the original Final Fight, Guy teams up with his training partner (later stated by Capcom that they have never met and the dialogue about him and Jessica being friends was added for the US version), Cody and the Mayor of Metro City, Mike Haggar, to save Jessica (Cody's girlfriend and Haggar's daughter) from Horace Belger (the leader of the Mad Gear gang). He defeated the Japanophile, Sodom in a famous match at an underground ring with many Mad Gear members watching (earning Sodom's eternal wrath in the process), and then goes on to Metro City's Industrial Area, where he defeats Rolento after being told he would make a good soldier. He re-unites with Haggar and Cody at the very end to defeat Belger and rescue Jessica. Once she is rescued, Guy walks away, but not before he knocks Cody down to allow Jessica to confront him, after being appalled by the lack respect he saw towards her.
In Final Fight Revenge, Guy sensed evil within Metro City once more, and goes to destroy it. Strangely enough, it was Belger, the departed Mad Gear leader, resurrected as a zombie. He defeats Belger, but is concerned that the evil of the man has corrupted him. He sets out to purify his body and mind, and begins to travel the world to achieve this, train, and discover the true power of his fighting style as well. So focused was he in attempting to discover the power of Bushin, he was not around to help save the 37th Bushin Master Genryusai and his daughter Rena (Guy's fiancé) in Final Fight 2 (although he writes Haggar, Carlos, and fellow Bushin ninja Maki a thank you letter upon hearing that Genryusai and his fiance are saved and Mad Gear is finally destroyed for good). It is highly assumed that Guy's failure to help with the rescue of his fiance and master was likely due to his battles during the Street Fighter Alpha series.
Guy reappeared in the Street Fighter Alpha franchise, and in Street Fighter Alpha 2 he sought out his master (the 38th Bushin master) Zeku, whom he needed to defeat in order to become the next Bushinryu master. Guy eventually does defeat his mentor, becomes the 39th Bushin Master, and is charged with bringing down Shadoloo. He also could have fought Sodom and Rolento during this time, but it is unknown. Shortly as foretold in Street Fighter Alpha 3, Guy is finishing up his travels and returning to his home, Metro City, but is still focused on his quest of destroying Shadoloo and its head, M. Bison. He meets up with Rose, realizes her connection to Bison, and urges her not to go on a suicide mission in destroying him. She refuses and they fight, and despite losing the battle, Guy more or less resolves to follow her and help her out.
He also meets up with his friend Cody during this time, and is dismayed to discover that he has escaped from jail and is basically a thug. The two battle and Cody wins, but they both calm down and Guy realizes that Cody is still a good person. He notes that all the people Cody has fought over the years have been criminals and dregs on society, despite his seeming addiction to fighting. The two part amicably and Guy wishes his friend the best. He eventually catches up to Rose's unconscious body, and carries her to the hospital, but feels a flash of evil (Bison is now in control of Rose's body). He shakes it off, but is concerned. Soon after, Guy realizes that as Bushin master, being decisive in his actions is key, morality is irrelevant. To that end, he adopts an "end justifies the means" philosophy.
