Stage 4-1[edit]

  • The new enemy introduced in this stage is the Ware Cat heads. They can't kill you directly by touching you, but they sure can push you around. What's worse, you need the Sword to destroy them. Equip the sword right away and take them out.
  • You'll probably notice the icy floor before you notice the roaming cat heads. You will slide across the surface as you run from place to place. Take the sliding into account as you move.
  • Another hidden item lies directly before the pit in the middle of the stage: a precious extra-life.

Stage 4-2[edit]

  • A new hopping breed of Isoginchacks that fire killer beams at you. What's worse, you will be fighting in a room with Princess Cats that fire the petrify beams that look very similar, so it's difficult to tell them apart.
  • There is a secret lost treasure in this room that you will not be able to collect again until the very end of the game. You can grab Scroll B on this stage by punching the tile inside the blocks in the upper left corner. It will help you against the Uni-gons that appear on this stage as well.
  • There is a bonus room in this stage, and unlike the ones before, it's covered in ice. However, the bullet patterns are easier to dodge since there are wide gaps between the two rows.
  • The Uni-gon appears almost immediately after this stage begins

Stage 4-3[edit]

  • You will finally meet the Medusa Cats on this stage. If you have collected Scroll A, you should have no trouble beating them with kick attacks. Also keep your sword drawn so you can deal with the Wild Cat heads.
  • The Hakaidan coffins may work to your disadvantage if they capture you when a Medusa Head fires a bullet at you. Escape from them as quickly as you possibly can.
  • Don't miss out on the lost treasure contained in this stage: the crystal ball. It's effects aren't tremendous, but every little bit helps.
  • Another bonus room awaits you in the upper left corner, and it's the same variety as the ones you encounter in the beginning of the game.

Stage 4-4[edit]

  • All three types of cat enemies will attack you here, in addition to the occasional Uni-gon appearance. Always identify the greatest threat and attack that first. Remove Medusa Cats before anything else, since they are the only cats that can actually kill you.
  • New to the game are the Daibuchans, the Buddha statues that fire bullets at you. You'll have to do your best to avoid hanging around in the columns of tiles where the bullets are frequently fired to diminish the threat that they present.
  • A single supply of Miracle Kicks is all that can be gained here, so don't spend too much time searching the blocks unless it's safe.
  • Lightning attacks are also fairly common here. If you have the mirror, than all you need to do is face them and they will bounce away. Otherwise, be sure to leap in time.
