King Dedede is a huge penguin-like bird debuting in Kirby's Dream Land. In his series, he was considered the main antagonist. He often stole food from Kirby's Dream Land in the game he debutted in. He is often misconceived as a "evil character" in most games. He is actually just selfish and egotistical and otherwise kind of friendly at times. He is a really heavy character who inherits Kirby's ability to suck up enemies.
Strategies[edit]
King Dedede has very low speed, limiting him quite a little. However, most of his combos and moves don't require speed to be effective.
Jet Hammer[edit]
This is one of King Dedede's charge moves. It has very high attack when fully charged and can be used as a finisher for most combos. It does slightly less damage in the air (not that King Dedede would be able to charge it mid-air), listing another reason as to why King Dedede is NOT an air fighter. Other than that, this may be one of the most powerful moves in the game in terms of damage. It can OHKO smaller opponents and weaken larger ones very easily.
Wonko Combo[edit]
This is a (hilariously named) parody of the Wombo Combo that King Dedede can use. To perform this, first use a Gordo Throw on the opponent, then follow up with a forward tilt, a down smash, a neutral special, and then, after spitting the opponent out, finish by charging and using the Jet Hammer when your opponent tries to counterattack. This is a very useful combo as it can be used to launch opponents even if they have not taken damage.
Gordo Launcher[edit]
This combo requires you to be extremely fast when pressing buttons, as Gordos launched with Gordo Throw don't last very long. First wait until an opponent is close to you and use Gordo Throw on them. As soon as you use the move, use Inhale immediately afterwards to Inhale the Gordo. If done correctly, the Gordo will be launched out of King Dedede into the opponent. If you are fast enough, you can chain the combo and continue to Inhale and spit out the Gordo at your opponent. You can also launch a Gordo stuck to a wall or a platform by Inhaling it and spitting it out.
Super Dedede Jump[edit]
King Dedede's main recovery option is most likely his numerous jumps for most players. If that fails, however, Super Dedede Jump is perfect for recovery. Who knew he could jump that high??
