Stuff[edit]

While dualies CAN be a poor choice, however, with one of three things, they can become superior to some SMGs. The three things are:

  1. Skill. With a fast finger, good aim and a little luck, you can pump rounds out very fast.
Autofire script (I don't endorse this at all). Likely to get you banned, however, simply pointing your guns in the right direction ensures a kill at close and medium ranges.
Loose scroll wheel. Most scroll wheels do not spin freely, however, if you have a loose wheel you can bind fire to mousewheel up (or down) and spin away. In many cases, having a loose scroll wheel is even superior to an autofire script.

I guess what I'm saying is, there are many situations where they are much better than a cheaper pistol or an smg. In rare cases they are even better than a rifle.

Now, on the subject of AWPs. You may already know this, but it is possible to fire faster with skill. Basically, instead of waiting for the bolt to pull back, swap to the pistol and back the AWP. If done fast enough, this is quicker than simply pulling back the bolt. Plus, it has the added bonus of confusing your opponent (the split second you have your pistol out may make them think you are swapping to close combat).

Lastly, CS:S is being updated. Weapon prices now flucuate based on how many are bought every week. The "Price:" field on each table will have to be replaced with "Default Price:" --RovingRoflguy 03:08, 5 October 2006 (CDT)

Thanks for your points; I've incorporated them. I'm well aware of the upcoming marketplace changes, and the page will be updated sometime around the 11th, when the changes are going live. --DrBob (Talk) 10:23, 5 October 2006 (CDT)

About FAMAS. one day i am experimenting to find out which weapon is the most accurate. surprisingly, when using FAMAS in Burst Mode, the weapons becomes way more accurate than the automatic mode. Then when i test this with a Bot in Aztec map, i go to the bridge. At the other side of the bridge, i see Terrorists running around and shooting me with no effect. When i shot him once using Burst, he's dead instantly. Headshot!
then i add this tip to the FAMAS section. -> Dalva 09:30, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

AWP is 0.338 Lapua Magnum = 8.6x70mm or 8.58x70mm not 7,62x51. 7,62x51 = 0.308 Winchester. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.113.84.250 (talkcontribs) .

ABOUT FIRE RATE[edit]

So I recorded some footage of me shooting with SMGs, and ARs, as well as the M249, and then I played the footage back and recorded the stereo mix in audacity. I then zoomed in to the audio track to determine the firerate. What I found was that the fire rate for a lot of the guns was very different from the firerate listed on this wiki page. So I changed the fire rate for each gun accordingly (Especially the M249, it has a firerate of about 750RPM when it was previously listed as 600RPM).

However, I think that while I was more accurate in listing the firerate, I might be inaccurate by as many as 50RPM. The reason is is that I recorded the footage with a frame rate of 25-30FPS while playing the game in a hundred. I'm pretty sure that since the Gold-Source engine is a quake mod, there might have been some rounding errors for firerate that were caused by the low framerate. For it to round accurately, I believe it would need a framerate of at least 40. This might have also been caused by playback speed. For example, I found that the M4A1 had a firerate of 667RPM when a real M4A1 should fire at 800RPM. So I simply rounded up to 700RPM and I rounded up many other guns as well.

True, Counter-Strike: Source DOES NOT play on the Gold Source engine, otherwise it would be called "Counter-Strike: Gold Source", however, the Source Engine does use a lot of the same programming as the Quake engine, so I believe it calculates the bone movements and hitscans per frame rather than in real time.

Anyone who has a better computer and better software to record the footage (I used the trial version of Dxtory, and recorded stereomix in Audacity when playing the footage back on my laptop), I encourage you to try and capture some footage yourself in 60FPS and then slow the footage down so that you can get a more accurate fire rate. Also, if you understand the game's code, then you can try to decode the scripts to tell what kind of fire rate it has. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cssftw95 (talkcontribs) .

Please do not waste your time doing this. It is inaccurate. If it does not say in game, just copy the most recent values from another site or extract the values from the code (or wait for someone else to). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:58, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
