Style[edit]

At the moment I'm just trying to describe everything in the game walkthrough style, with some of the terms and stuff up front that might be baffling to a first-time player. My main concern is organization, making it easy to scan and skim, and basic correctness and readability.

I'm also thinking about putting an executive summary at the end to explain the summary of the game's plot without going through all the details.--BigCow 20:01, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm debating whether or not the executive summary works better in this page than the detailed plot description I'm not sure anyone is ever likely to read. It could probably stand to be pared down quite a bit.--BigCow 03:24, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I had my first big glance at this module apart of just seeing that hey, it exists. =) My summary thing is that I think the format is just fine. Some issues that I have figured out:

  1. The glossary might be fun as a separate module. I may look at splitting that later.
  2. We have already a module for character summaries, though I think it would be a good idea to recap briefly the character's background and how they develop during the game. It's one possible point of observation.
  3. Structure is good. Though I think the "executive summary" might work better at the beginning. Not sure about that though.

Must take a better look at that once I have coffee and stuff. I mean, more coffee and stuff. =) --Wwwwolf 13:14, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

I second the idea to move the "executive edition" to the beginning, but suggest re-naming it to something like, "Brief Synopsis" and then follow it with a "Detailed Synopsis" (the one you've written). As far as length, I'd say to make the brief synopsis under 1,000 words and the detailed one under 8,000. As it is, your brief version is 500 words, which is great, but you do (IMO) have some room flesh it out a little bit if you wanted to. The main thing I would do is to make it so someone who's never played a FF game, or doesn't even like video games, could read it and know the general thrust of the story. Your detailed synopsis is 6,849 words (by itself). The length is okay, but I would move the glossary to the end and perhaps merge the character list with it (or excise it altogether).
