Drivel[edit]

I'm not too sure about the {{drivel}} tag. Most of the stuff is just opinions about how each system plays, but there is enough actual information that I don't want to delete the whole page. If we can find a way to merge the actual info into other page(s) of the guide, that would probably be best. I'm not too sure how far drivel goes. I know this wiki isn't as strict as WikiPedia, where everything has to be sourced and from a non-subjective point of view, but I'm still unsure where the line is drawn. I think the opinions might be helpful to readers who are thinking of purchasing the game, but who knows. Input appreciated, - najzere 23:28, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

The drivel tag represents the need to rewrite some of the content or that it is in need of proof reading (take out the 1st person, fix typos, grammar, ect). Unless all of the page is intensely bad and unusable gibberish an admin won't be deleting it. However if you edit a page to the point of thinking it no longer needs an improvement related tag then remove the tag to reflect this opinion.
Questions that need to be asked while de-driveling things (in Zaiqukaj's opinion)
  • Is there any obvious bias beyond facts? The sentence I just removed is an example of opinion that is not adding to the value or helpfulness of the page.
  • Is the content useful or informative? If not then why is it there and should it be?
  • Is the content spelled correctly and using grammar?
  • Is 1st person used?
  • Does the page constantly change tense for no reason?
I'm assuming the objective of a page like this is to compare, contrast, and explain the pros/cons and differences of each version. I really like what you did with the Arcade section. The order of your points are straight forward. The fact that it is an arcade machine and has nice sound and a throttle are the pros and stated in the beginning. It gets everything started on a positive note. The missing levels and music tracks are a con and towards the end. It is concluded with the code thing that is simply a difference between the versions.
When the degree of negative and positive are unbalanced in things that are supposed to be equal or neutral it sounds biased. An example of this (unless this is an undisputed fact with fans of the series) is how the Dreamcast section is almost completely negative. The only pro in there is about the graphics which I assume are at least better than the PlayStation version. It doesn’t even get its own sentence. Most things have at least a few pros and cons.
If anything flagged as drivel can survive the bulleted list above then you should go ahead and take out the drivel tag. The fact that a few sections are almost completely negative is the only thing I can see here that bother me while proof reading the page. Everything else looks great and I would agree this may not need the tag anymore. The lack of pros in those sections could be considered an “unfinished” quality instead of drivel. --Zaiqukaj 08:22, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
So I guess we'll just leave it and if someone down the road has something good to say about some of the other versions, they can update it. Thanks for the response, - najzere 16:13, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
