Relationship between bells and SoL[edit]

It's not that simple. A colony with just one population unit may be at or close to the 100% figure if it has accumulated 200 bells, but adding a second citizen is likely to cut it to about 67%, not 50%, and a third will take it to about 50%, not 33%.

The formula is not "SoL = Bells / (Popn x 2)" (although that is what FreeCol uses at present). It's roughly "SoL = Bells / (Popn + 1)".

And there comes a stage in the life of many colonies when the percentage does not grow as expected. It may even decline despite the apparent production of at least one bell on your screen every turn. There must be some other factors at work. I'm looking for them.

Bolivar Note[edit]

This appears to be incorrect: Note: getting Bolivar early may be a bad idea. He gives a one time bonus to all existing colonies. If you're planning to expand, hold off on Bolivar until those colonies are up. Founding a new colony after Bolivar starts at 20%. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.216.53.245 (talkcontribs) .
