StarCraft Brood Wars: True Colors simple guide:

Zerg mission 5 was damn near impossible until I realized the obvious: the enemy buildings are clustered closely together making them easy targets for Defilers and Ultralisks!

Here's how I did (I cheated a little by playing the first 6 minutes on slow speed):

Take all your units to wipe out the important structures in the two Terran bases, you will need your Lurkers for this. While they are on the move get your drones mining.

(You could hit the Protoss base instead but I preferred hitting the Terrans)

Defend the bridge! the lower Terran camp you destroyed is accessible by a bridge to the south, defend it with one or two lurkers and a few zerglings. They will just barely be able to knock out the tanks and Goliaths.

Defend your original base with sunken colonies and some zerglings and hydralisks. The Protoss will wipe you out if you don't fend off their first assault.

GET MINING! You have tons of minerals and vespene gas deposits but you have to build your forces quickly and upgrade to the max. Defend your hives with plenty of spore mines and sunken colonies, the Terrans will rampage against you with tanks and goliaths and later hit with Wraiths, Battlecruisers and science vessels. Have plenty of Scourges around your bases to knock the air units out of the sky before they can do real damage.

The Protoss and Terran bases to the south are almost impenetrable until you have Defilers and Ultralisks. I destroyed the Terran base with 8 Ultralisks and 9 Defilers and threw in a mob of zerglings and hydralisks with scourges to kill the battlecruisers. A couple of Queens will be very useful to zap the tanks.

Killing Fenix and Duke is very easy. I sent a small force of Scourges to hit Duke's ship and killing Fenix was almost embarrassing. A single "spawn broodlings" shot and *splat* he's dead before he can even fire a shot. I almost felt guilty!

Guardians are always useful but in this mission they are of limited use for attacks so keep them mainly for defence and knocking out a few turrets and bunkers.
