Anybody who wishes to edit this should identify themselves to me, Captain Obvious, as this is my project. I gladly welcome editing, but only if you know the game well enough to fix my mistakes or improve on the information. I don't mean to sound like an overprotective braggart, but I know this game very well, and I'm trying to make this as complete and accurate a guide as possible. Please write here or in my talk.

A lot of the characters and stages are incomplete. I'm pretty good with Samus and Kirby, is it okay if I add their info for you?

Sure! I'm looking forward to seeing what you know. Just get the info out there, and formatting and suchlike will be fixed later. Thanks!

Would it be allright to discuss (under Stages) which characters have advantages and disadvantages why and how to exploit them on each stage? Like Ness absorbing the Arwing lasers on Starfox's stage, or light characters being highly vulnerable to the tornadoes, or which levels are better for ranged fighters, etc? If others think so, I will work on it.

I don't see why not, but how were you planning on implementing it? You could put a list of characters below each stage description, and detail their adv. and disadv., or you could just slap a general description on there. Whatever you decide to do.

Oh, and I think that there should be a basic intro to each character in the main text, and then a link to another page where there will be an in-depth review of that character. I call Pikachu's in-depth review. Please post here before writing yours, though, so that we can compile info. Thanks, all.

hello, im 60.226.30.88 who addded a bit on pikachu and the damage types, etc. The damage bonus % is shown in training during and those stats were extracted programmatically by me. I didnt used gameshark or anything, but looked at the training mode and the values it spewed and used trial and error to calculate the damage percentiles and checked it against the game. for the Falcon Punch, total damage is 24%, but the damage bonus is applied after 48%. this bonus damage dictates how far you get kicked off the platform based on how much damage you already have received. i have to say though, this is not the case with the gamecube version.

also, these values were extracted through training mode and just observance when playing, and just fyi, i didnt use a gameshark or anything to **illegally** get them. also, dont take them litterally, cos i could be wrong, even though they prove right when i test them in the game.

since this is your project, (im just contributing, cos i thought it would be nice to publish my findings), feel free to just remove it if you have any compunctions with keeping this info cos its not *official, cos i wasnt working at Hal labs or anything.

So, does bonus damage actually cause extra damage, or just send them further?

Also, I've added links to the in-depth character pages, so go nuts with those. I'm doing Pika, though.

bonus damage is based on the fighters current damage. If you were pikachu and you used thunderbolt to KO captain falcon who has 150% damage, then it would still do the same amount of damage, but the bonus damage is applied, and thus it will send capt. falcon further away. yknow how "the more damage you do, the further they are knocked away" right?, how far they are knocked away is determined by the bonus damage, which is determined by the current damage. if no bonus damage was applied, then even at 900% damage, everyone would still get knocked away at the same speed and get knocked back at the same range. --60-226-30-88

Ok, I think I've got you now. Anyway, I'm making a new section called "Battle Tactics." Cheap shots (though based on single player) should be moved there, as well as juggling, edgeguarding, wall-comboing, spiking, etc. And there are my 2 cents.

I'm commenting out the character descriptions for the moment so that I can write short, succinct summaries for each character. I created the links to in-depth guides so that in-depth info can go somewhere besides the main page. If someone would like to help me write these summaries, they can.

Split up page[edit]

I think this page is too long if you only want one section. It should be split into a few pages for easier use - considering it hasn't even been finished yet. What does anyone else think? Jackhynes 14:03, 11 January 2006 (PST)
