Marlin[edit]

Something completely random I found is that the best time to catch Marlin is just after Isaki has given you the Marlin Bait. Because I tried catching one and I was nearer to the end of the game and couldn't catch one anywhere, and then in another game just after he'd given me the bait I went fishing at Green Meadows and I managed to catch three of them! Maybe there should be something about that in there, or maybe I just got lucky once. --Melon247 17:56, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Well you've got to be careful about drawing conclusions from limited information. I've been testing fishing pretty heavily to see if there is a pattern like in bug collecting, but if there is, it's not very evident. What I can say is that the available fish at any given fishing location is randomly generated when you enter the area. If you're having trouble catching a fish at a pier where you know it exists, it will help to exit and reenter the area. I've been trying to tie this to the bug location setups, but so far it appears to be random every time. When I first played through the game I noticed that the butterfly by the beach in Hoya Plains was always the same bug whenever I couldn't catch the Goatfish, so I ran in and out until it changed, and then I caught the fish. That's the closest I've come to tying it to anything not random, although with further experimenting I've come to think that was just a coincidence and had more to do with resetting the area than which setup I was in.
By the way, what do you mean the Vultures pick you up on the enemy page? Don't they just push you over a few paces? - najzere 18:29, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
There was this one time when I was standing still in vulture territory and one of them actually swooped down, picked me up, and carried me a few feet and dropped me again. I don't think it was just a glitch, since my dog actually looked like they were trying to get themselves free. It only happened once though, so maybe you should test it out. Just wait underneigh a volture. Oh, and the one that nicked me was the first one you see in Rune Canyon, so it could have just been that one. --Melon247 10:19, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
