The infobox looks odd with MonoBook skin, is there any good solution for this line...

<div style="float: right; border-width: 1px; border-style: solid; margin: 5px;">

--BB 21:39, 14 August 2006 (CDT)

I've fixed it now, pretty much. The font size still isn't the same as BlueCloud's, but other than that I think it's fine. GarrettTalk

Other headings[edit]

Might I suggest adding optional Version and Input headings. Actually, quite a few of the headings from wikipedia:Template:Infobox_CVG would probably be useful. -- Prod 23:13, 13 September 2006 (CDT)

I can't see much point in them. For most games we have here, there is only going to be one version (console games don't have versioned releases), and we're more a wiki for game guides, rather than game information. If you feel strongly about this, bring it up in community issues, otherwise, I'd just mention those pieces of information in the introductory text on the game's main guide page. --DrBob (Talk) 11:59, 14 September 2006 (CDT)
Actually console games used to have versions, though usually thats minor bug fixes, so not really important. However, adding them as optional headings (like requirements) wouldn't really get in the way of anyone else. -- Prod 13:02, 14 September 2006 (CDT)
Go ahead, then. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 13:53, 14 September 2006 (CDT)
Is there any reason not to copy wikipedia:Template:Infobox_CVG and change some of the heading names (or since we don't have #if this older version)
I think our current one is fine, unless you think we could add some headings? --DrBob (Talk) 13:34, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
Most of the optional stuff, much of which is only useful for PC games. -- Prod 13:36, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
Do you feel up to adding them? Make sure to make them optional using qif. --DrBob (Talk) 14:47, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
Done -- Prod 20:49, 1 October 2006 (CDT)

div[edit]

Interesting, switch to monobook and check out a page that includes this, then go back to bluecloud. Why do you think the monobook has a full line break? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 00:38, 2 October 2006 (CDT)

Please add EOCS ratings[edit]

EOCS ratings are: General, R, and 18+. Thank you. -Afker 02:43, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Done. Use the "EOCS" parameter with G, R, or 18. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 05:55, 25 February 2007 (CST)

ELSPA[edit]

I'm sorry, can someone change the ELSPA so it is right, our own article asys it has an 11+ category but there is nothing there, the pics are new PEGI ones, I'm doing this for Black and White so I'll leave it for a bit but can you please change it or get rid of it?--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 18:01, 23 March 2007 (CDT)

Good point. I'll change it now. Do you know if there were images to go along with it? -- Prod (Talk) 18:38, 23 March 2007 (CDT)
This is the only reference I have for current ELSPA images/rating categories: http://www.elspa.com/docs/aag_leaflet_artwork.pdf
sucks don't it? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:21, 24 March 2007 (CDT)
Those are the new PEGI images (mixed in with BBFC???) :/. -- Prod (Talk) 02:17, 24 March 2007 (CDT)
I assume they are the same since the leaflet (the first link I gave) has advertisements for askaboutgames.com which when scrolling to the bottom has the same images with links that say "elspa.com/rating/" followed by the rating, 3, 7,12,16, etc. After following one (http://www.elspa.com/rating/7.htm), a better account is made that both the ELSPA and PEGI have the same ratings now. (See the notices about PEGI and both banners in the bottom right. Hope my deduction is correct. According to Wikipedia, as I said, it's the same http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELSPA --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 10:17, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Category:Deprecated templates[edit]

Why is Category:Deprecated templates includeonly'd into this template? CyberSkull 01:30, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

Optional picture size[edit]

This template assumes an image width of greater than 250px, causing ugly scaling artifacts when the box art is not big enough (eg this version of 'Lineage II'). It's my opinion that an optional "image-width" attribute be added so page editors can change the size of the displayed art when a large-enough image does not exist.

LinkTiger 16:12, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

The scaling artifacts are an indication that a larger image needs to be acquired and uploaded. I don't think we should re-add re-sizeable images, as people always manage to get things wrong when given the choice. --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 16:44, 11 October 2007 (CDT)
I love how Link "mercilessly stole" the larger image from Wikipedia. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:33, 12 October 2007 (CDT)
Another option is to pad the image itself (which is what Amazon.com and the like do). GarrettTalk 04:57, 12 October 2007 (CDT)
Although it would be better in every way to get hold of a larger image where possible. --DrBob Needcat icon.png0005.svg 11:09, 12 October 2007 (CDT)

Preview version[edit]

Would there be a way to add a "preview version" just like the standard version? -- Numbermaniac - T - C 06:03, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Move Japanese row up below Title[edit]

I think it would look better to have the optional Japanese title just under the regular title. Right now it is arbitrarily squished in between a couple of rows - it appears random and unorganized. Since this will add a lot to our job queue, I thought I might get a second opinion first. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:57, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Incorrect encoding[edit]

When clicking on Twitter/FB/Google+ links on Jets'n'Guns the request gets mangled and comes out as Jets&#39;n&#39;Guns. — Vetle (talk) 09:14, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it's hard to get the exact right coding. MediaWiki has a comparison. If I use {{PAGENAME}}, it adds spaces and breaks links. All the others replace spaces with "_", which breaks most searches. -- Prod (talk) 04:14, 1 September 2016 (UTC)

Game engine[edit]

Add in a section that shows the game engine the game uses (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.). Gorilli09 (talk) 13:45, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

This was removed a while ago StrategyWiki:Staff lounge/2016/June. PCGW is just better at covering this information. -- Prod (talk) 17:03, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
PCGW only does PC games. Gorilli09 (talk) 22:31, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
I guess the question to answer, with regards to this wiki, is: how does this information help the player either play or beat a game, or find a game their looking for. If the answer is that it doesn't, then it's hard to justify its inclusion. It just becomes another thing we catalog for no explainable reason. Procyon 22:20, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
